Can You Record Zoom Calls on Upwork?
Learn how to easily record a Zoom call when using Upwork Messages to communicate with clients or freelancers on Upwork.

When you use Upwork to find a job or connect with a skilled freelancer, you’re required to keep all of your precontract communications on the platform. This is an important part of the Upwork Terms of Service and helps to keep all users safe.
Luckily, there are lots of ways to communicate on Upwork, including through Zoom calls. Let’s take a closer look at what a Zoom call on Upwork entails and what features are available to you.
Can you record a Zoom call on Upwork?
Yes! You can schedule, start, and record a Zoom meeting on Upwork. To do this, you’ll want to start a Zoom call through Upwork Messages.
How to record a Zoom call in Upwork Messages
You can find all of your video meeting options in Upwork Messages. Simply start a message with the person you’d like to talk to, then click on the video camera icon in the top-right corner of your messaging screen.
Next, select “Recorded Zoom meeting.” The meeting link will appear as a message in your chat; all persons in the chat will have the ability to click on this link and join the video call. When you click the link, you’ll be redirected to a new web browser tab or the Zoom app (if installed on your device and logged into your Zoom account).
The Zoom call will proceed as normal; call recording is automatically turned on when your meeting starts.
How to view recorded Zoom calls in Upwork Messages
A message will appear in your Upwork Messages chat as soon as a Zoom call ends. This lets all chat participants know that the video meeting is no longer active.
A second message will appear when the recorded call is available for chat participants to view during the next seven days. After that time, the video will be automatically deleted from the cloud.
You can watch the cloud recording in your web browser; you also have the option to download the file to save or view later.
