UK Company Accounts & Director's Loan Account Review – Experienced Accountant Required
Worldwide
I'm looking for an experienced accountant to independently review my former limited company's accounting records. I've already identified what I believe may be some anomalies in the accounts and Director's Loan Account (DLA), but I'd like an independent professional to review the records and either confirm or challenge my findings. The work relates to a Director's Loan Account (DLA) dispute following a Creditors' Voluntary Liquidation (CVL), so accuracy, attention to detail and a methodical approach are essential. I am seeking an objective accounting opinion, supported by evidence, rather than bookkeeping or routine tax compliance. Initially, I'm looking for an accountant to review the available information and advise whether they believe there are any accounting anomalies. Depending on the findings, there may be further work. Scope of Work I will provide: Final statutory accounts. Previous draft accounts (where available). Approximately 12 months of business bank statements (to July 2025). Month-end financial snapshots. Supporting documentation. I require you to: Review the statutory accounts and identify any apparent anomalies, inconsistencies or accounting errors. Reconcile the bank statements against the accounting records to establish the movement of funds and review the Director's Loan Account. Review the month-end figures and advise what additional reports or information you require from Xero to complete the reconciliation. I do not currently have access to Xero but can request specific reports. Produce a written summary of your findings, including: the work undertaken; the documents reviewed; any discrepancies or anomalies identified; the basis for your conclusions; your opinion on the accounting treatment where appropriate. Essential Experience Extensive experience with UK limited company accounts. Strong knowledge of Director's Loan Accounts. Experienced Xero user. Excellent reconciliation and analytical skills. Ability to explain findings clearly in writing. Preferred ACA or ACCA qualified (or equivalent with significant UK accounting experience). Experience of insolvency, liquidation or forensic accounting would be advantageous. Experience preparing independent reports for legal or commercial disputes. Able to provide a signed professional report on firm or professional letterhead (where applicable), including qualifications and professional memberships. Please Include in Your Proposal Your qualifications and professional memberships. Relevant experience with similar assignments. Whether you have experience reviewing Director's Loan Accounts. Whether you have experience with UK insolvency or liquidation matters. Your estimated fixed fee (or fee range). Your expected timescale. Important This assignment requires an experienced accountant capable of independently reviewing accounting records, reconciling a Director's Loan Account and identifying potential accounting errors. It is not a bookkeeping assignment. The successful applicant may be asked to provide clarification on their findings if further questions arise during the course of the dispute. The written report should be sufficiently detailed that another accountant could understand the work undertaken, the evidence reviewed and the basis for your conclusions.
