Contract Business Intelligence Data Analyst

CONTRACT BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE DATA ANALYST About the Job We are seeking a skilled and analytical Freelance/Contract Business Intelligence Data Analyst to join our team. In this role, you will analyze complex datasets, write advanced SQL queries, extract meaningful insights, and translate those insights into dashboards that drive data-driven decisions. The ideal candidate has a strong analytical mindset, experience with modern data and developer tool APIs, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment. What You Will Get to Do - Data Exploration: Analyze large and complex datasets to identify patterns, trends, and correlations using BigQuery, Looker, SQL, and integrated data from webhooks and APIs - Data Visualization: Create clear, compelling dashboards and reports in Looker that effectively communicate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders - Data Validation: Validate and verify the accuracy and integrity of analytical results by implementing validation techniques. Example tasks: building Looker dashboards from AI usage data, validating metrics against source records, troubleshooting dashboard freshness or filter issues, documenting metric definitions What You Bring to the Table - Proven experience as a data analyst, business analyst, or similar role, with a track record of analyzing and deriving insights from complex datasets. - 2+ years of SQL experience required; experience with BigQuery preferred - Solid understanding of data visualization principles with hands-on Looker experience required - Strong ability to debug and validate data outputs, including investigating discrepancies between source data, SQL results, and dashboard results. - Experience working with complex datasets, including JSON, arrays, nested records, webhook/event data, or API-ingested data. - Experience working with APIs (preferably REST or GraphQL APIs) - Understanding of ETL pipelines and data transformation best practices - Familiarity with GitHub workflows and Jira required; experience with Jira custom fields or automation is a plus - Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities with a keen eye for detail - Comfortable using AI tools as part of the data analysis and development process, while always reviewing and validating AI-generated outputs. - Ability to provide regular updates, document progress clearly in Jira, and maintain accurate process documentation as work evolves. - Comfortable working in a remote environment with clear communication skills, timely status updates, and proactive escalation of blockers Nice To Have - Experience working with APIs (preferably REST or GraphQL APIs) Join our dynamic team and utilize your analytical expertise to uncover valuable insights with datasets from multiple sources.
