Summary

Role Overview We are seeking a knowledgeable and practically oriented Applied Mathematics Lecturer to join our academic team. The successful candidate will have the ability to teach applied mathematics in the context of engineering and computing, making mathematical concepts accessible, relevant, and directly usable by students pursuing Diploma and undergraduate-level engineering and IT programmes. Candidates with 1–3 years of teaching or industry experience in a mathematics-intensive role are encouraged to apply. Subject Knowledge Required Calculus & Differential Equations: Differentiation, integration, first and second-order ODEs, Laplace transforms, and their applications in engineering systems. Linear Algebra: Matrices, determinants, systems of equations, eigenvalues/eigenvectors, and applications in computing and data science. Numerical Methods: Root-finding methods (Newton-Raphson), numerical integration (Simpson's Rule, Trapezoidal Rule), interpolation, and iterative techniques. Probability & Statistics: Probability distributions, hypothesis testing, regression analysis, and statistical methods applied to engineering and data analysis. Discrete Mathematics: Set theory, logic, graph theory, Boolean algebra, and combinatorics — with applications in software engineering, digital logic, and cryptography. Computational Tools: Proficiency in at least one of: MATLAB, Python (NumPy/SciPy/SymPy), or R for mathematical computation and visualisation. Qualifications & Experience Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Engineering Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field (mandatory); B.Ed. Preferred. Industry / Teaching Experience: Minimum 1–3 years of experience teaching mathematics or applying mathematics in an engineering, computing, or data-intensive industry role. Communication Skills: Excellent English communication skills (written and spoken) are mandatory for this role.
