Overview We are developing Grade 4 and Grade 5 Reading practice test books aligned with to the 2024 Virginia ELA SOL. Both are in near-final draft. I'm looking for a teacher who has taught these grades and knows the SOL Reading test well. This is a final review and refinement role. The goal is simple: each test should read like an official SOL Reading test at the correct grade level. Who I'm looking for A current or former Virginia (or SOL-familiar) elementary teacher who has taught Grade 4 and/or Grade 5 Reading and knows the SOL blueprint, standards, and test style firsthand. Scope Grade 4 book: 5 full-length tests + 1 mini test, ~220 questions, ~28 passages. Grade 5 book: 5 full-length tests + 1 mini test, ~220 questions, ~28 passages. Includes answer key review (answers + brief explanations). Responsibilities - Review and revise passages so each is at the correct grade level, SOL-style, and consistent with the SOL blueprint and standards. Targeted edits directly — don't fully rewrite unless necessary. - Review and revise questions so they are SOL-style, grade-appropriate, assess the intended skill, and have plausible, text-based SOL-style distractors (one clearly correct answer). - Check each test individually for a good variety of question types and full, balanced coverage of the grade-level SOL Reading skills — no skill over- or under-covered. - Review images/visuals so they are SOL-style and grade-appropriate. Written guidance is fine (flag unclear visuals, ones that give away the answer, or spots where a visual would help). No need to redraw. - Review the answer key: correct any wrong answers and keep explanations to 1–2 clear lines supported by the passage. What to avoid: unnecessary full rewrites, reordering tests, or formatting/layout edits. - Focus on direct revisions that make the content publish-ready. Delivery Use Track Changes in Word, edit directly in the documents, keep original question order, and add brief comments only where helpful. Timeline & budget — phased, $280 total (10 days) -Phase 0 (paid trial): 1 Grade 4 test — $20 (1 day) - Phase 1: remaining Grade 4 tests — $120. (4 days) - Phase 2: full Grade 5 book — $140. ( 5 days) Starting with a short paid trial lets us both confirm it's a good fit before committing to the rest. Feedback will be provided after each phase.
