Hello! I’m Maria, a Graphic Designer and Illustrator (specialized in Manga art) based in sunny Lisbon, Portugal. I’m passionate about creating playful yet meaningful experiences through my work, drawing inspiration from the elegant minimalism of Japanese aesthetics. I blend these influences to craft captivating visual narratives that resonate with audiences. I’ve been a professional comic and manga artist for 27 years, with a diverse portfolio spanning multiple continents. My work includes projects published locally in my home country, primarily in manga style, and internationally in the USA with renowned companies like Marvel (Avengers and Spider-Man Cards), Dynamite Entertainment, and DC Comics (DC Bombshells series and Heroes and Villains Cards). My creative journey also led me to illustrate a manga in China and produce webcomics for a mobile video game company based in Eastern Europe. In recent years, I’ve expanded into new mediums, serving as an art director and character designer for indie games in the USA and NFTs. Notably, I contributed to the ON1 Force manga and illustrated exclusive trading cards for Ultraman’s 55th anniversary in 2022. Known for my adaptability, I effortlessly transition between comics and manga styles to meet client needs. With a strong commitment to deadlines and a collaborative spirit, I’m dedicated to delivering high-quality work in every project I undertake.

I’m an Italian physicist living in Portugal. During PhD I worked on the development of silicon particle detectors for an high energy physics experiment based at CERN. I also worked on testing and building of remote-controlled laboratory setups. After graduation I started working as hardware engineer. My main role is to keep hardware libraries and version control tidy, as administrator of our hardware release server. I spent great part of my youth drawing, painting and writing songs. I love sports and training people.
