Hello! I’m Maria, a Graphic Designer and Illustrator (specialized in Manga art) based in sunny Lisbon, Portugal. I’m passionate about creating playful yet meaningful experiences through my work, drawing inspiration from the elegant minimalism of Japanese aesthetics. I’ve been a professional comic and manga artist for 27 years, with a diverse portfolio spanning multiple continents. My work includes projects published locally in my home country, primarily in manga style, and internationally in the USA with renowned companies like Marvel (Avengers and Spider-Man Cards), Dynamite Entertainment, and DC Comics (DC Bombshells series and Heroes and Villains Cards). My creative journey also led me to illustrate a manga in China and produce webcomics for a mobile video game company based in Eastern Europe. In recent years, I’ve expanded into new mediums, serving as an art director and character designer for indie games in the USA and NFTs. Notably, I contributed to the ON1 Force manga and illustrated exclusive trading cards for Ultraman’s 55th anniversary in 2022. Known for my adaptability, I effortlessly transition between comics and manga styles to meet client needs. With a strong commitment to deadlines and a collaborative spirit, I’m dedicated to delivering high-quality work in every project I undertake.

I am director in NiTERU a 2D and 3D Animation Studio created in August of 2019 inspired in the Anime culture. We have more than 10 years of experience drawing manga and anime. We are two artists that can manage the creation process - from idea to production - of an animated series/movie or manga book. Our artistic level is superior. We dominate anatomy, perspective, composition, colour, light, movement and action so our style is highly detailed and visually striking. We have experience creating manga pages and stories, anime series, character and environment design, backgrounds, sprites and game assets and storyboards.
