I am a Master's degree graduate in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wyoming. Two major projects I have worked on are a microbiome analysis of two streams only fed using produced water, and another was the chemical and biological characterization of a sugar beet molasses product. The microbiome analysis developed the phylogeny of the streams, did some statistical analysis on the phylogenies, and compared the identified genera with the water chemistry of the streams. Chemically characterizing the sugar beet biopolymer involved learning how to separate the biopolymer from the sugary molasses solution using dialysis, performing Xray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS), Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, determining zeta potential, gel permeation chromatography, and determining the antioxidant activity. Biologically characterizing the molecule involved using growth inhibition studies to determining the effect of the sugar beet polymer on bacteria and fungi, and determining any cytotoxic effects on mammal cells. I have experience working in materials characterization, industrial plants, cluster computing and workflow design.Genomic Data AnalysisEngineering DesignCluster ComputingPythonChemistryMaterials CharacterizationQuantitative AnalysisChemical EngineeringBioinformatics - $75 hourly

To Whomever It Concerns, I am a data scientist and I use Python to find value in complex data using innovative and original algorithms. While most of my work has been in the life sciences and financial sectors, my skills apply to virtually any market. One of my most recent accomplishments is having built an ensemble model incorporating recurrent and convolutional neural networks for identifying value in foreign currency exchange markets. The algorithms I have built towards this purpose took me about a year, and were some of the hardest I have ever worked on, but have accomplished something replete in the fintech literature – a model that actually generalizes to real-world results. That is, it consistently enables profitable forex trades week in and week out. In a highly leveraged trading market that is notorious for eviscerating traders – 90% of traders lose 90% of their capital within 90 days – this is one of my most prized accomplishments. I got my start in the life sciences, which is what I earned my doctorate in, and in the 2000s I developed a history of thought leadership and computational / genomics innovation. In the 2000s I built DNAPrint genomics, of Sarasota and later, Bradenton, FL, where we applied novel computational and automated molecular biology methods to make history; we were featured on numerous television programs (domestic and European), written about by international media, (New York Times, US News and World Report, Popular Science, Scientific American etc.), and went on to not only form the basis for an Academic Press textbook I authored, but trail blazed the forensic phenotyping and consumer genomics marketplaces that today are valued at over $1B per year. DNAPrint was 20 years ago, and since then most every job I have had has involved some aspect of computational innovation. Today, I am serving as a Computational Biology Consultant specializing in the identification of value in complex life sciences data. I do much more than routine bioinformatics – I leverage a career of judgment and expertise with modern genomics and other patient datasets as expressed through custom algorithms, scripts and programs (python) and I often am able to not only find unique value in data, but help my clients design studies and develop programs that are more inclined to result in the delivery of such value. I most commonly leverage structured datasets with AI (specifically deep learning modules) in my work. Some of my recent projects have helped to identify the mechanism behind off-label effects of approved compounds, the identification of activated signal transduction pathways required for the ex-vivo growth of a particular human tissue (mass production of tissues in the lab, for which there is a dire need), and prioritization of compounds likely to produce a particular therapeutic effect in a given tissue. Others have started with a tissue type towards identifying genetic circuits and compounds likely to be useful in treating certain conditions. In addition to AI, ML from structured data, I am also capable of leveraging foundational and custom third-party models with unstructured data for various purposes. I approach life science problems the same way I approach equity market or any other complex problem by literature-tested approaches augmented with original innovations and the skills I have mastered apply to just about any field of study or discipline. I really enjoy taking on challenging coding projects and being able to deliver value to help move a project. It brings great satisfaction to me. Thanks for your consideration! I have managed a high throughput computing cluster for health science researchers for 7+ years. I have adopted nf-core pipelines to provide next generation sequencing data analysis for researchers. I have validated various nf-core pipelines using real next generation sequencing data. The data analysis results from these pipelines have been used in journal publications. You will share with me your raw fastq files using cloud storages, including OneDrive, Box, DropBox, Google workspace, etc. I will download the data and run the proper nf-core pipelines and upload the results to your cloud storage. I will charge $10 per successful RNASeq sample or $15 per other NGS sample. I will organize a 30-minute zoom meeting if you request > 9 samples to go through the results. Extra post analysis will be charged at $75/hour. Here is an example of ATACSeq post analysis: ATACSeqQC, DiffBind, HOMER to annotate and to perform motif analysis of the differential peaks. The cost of this analysis is 1-2 hours depending on the number of samples.Genomic Data AnalysisData AnalysisBioinformaticsPythonR Want to browse more freelancers?
