I’m a senior full-stack developer and systems engineer with over 30 years of experience across software engineering, networking, cybersecurity, and DevOps. I love solving complex problems and blending old-school engineering discipline with modern desktop, web, cloud, and blockchain technologies. I stepped into IT in the early 90s. It all began with a manual for the ZX Spectrum and the book “The Cuckoo’s Egg” by Clifford Stoll — both of which blew the mind of my curious post-Soviet teenage self and set my life path in technology. At Kherson Polytechnical College, I studied programming for MS-DOS, dove deep into Wintel architecture, and learned about registers, memory segments, interrupts, and I/O ports. Alongside assembler, I studied BASIC, C, C++, Pascal, and FoxPro, as well as early Novell NetWare IPX/SPX networks. We also had Soviet clones of PDP-11 systems, which taught me how computers truly work at their core. Later, I moved into Windows programming with Win32 API, ActiveX, WinForms, WPF, and Delphi/Object Pascal. I began writing automation scripts for MS Office and explored Unix/Linux systems, learning to code for them too. Around that time, I got deeply interested in cybersecurity — studying exploits, shellcode, ring-zero programming, reverse engineering (IDA, SoftICE), traffic sniffing, packet spoofing, and man-in-the-middle attacks. I graduated in 2000 as a Programmer Engineer, and in March 2001, I joined FidoNet as point 2:468/44.777, entering a new world of digital communication and underground tech culture. As my career evolved, I went deeper into networking and telecommunications. At my longest-term position with an Internet Service Provider, I helped design, build, and maintain networks using DSL, SDH, WiFi, WiMAX, GEPON, VoIP, IPTV, and satellite links, along with a wide range of servers and services. During this time, I learned Perl, PHP, and Tcl, building automation tools, early web apps, IRC bots, report generators, monitoring, and alerting systems. I also studied HTML, CSS, HTTP protocols, SEO, JavaScript, AJAX, and jQuery, laying the foundation for my full-stack skills. Out of pure passion, I explored ActionScript and basics of 3D programming — my first step into visual, interactive systems.
