I build Django REST backends and the Nuxt frontends that talk to them. Most teams hire two people for this and lose a week arguing about whose side the bug is on. I do both, so that conversation doesn't happen. Most of my work is one of three things: 1. Building a DRF API from scratch. Models, serializers, viewsets, permissions, JWT auth, pagination, filtering. The part people usually get wrong is what happens when the table has 200,000 rows instead of 200 — so I plan for that early rather than patching it later. 2. Building or fixing a Nuxt frontend. Nuxt 3 with Vue 3 and the Composition API, Pinia for state, SSR configured properly against a Django backend. Auth across server and client is where most Nuxt/DRF projects break, and I've untangled it enough times to know where to look. 3. Migrating off Vue 2. Vue 2 hit end-of-life in December 2023, so if you're still on it you're running without security patches. Options API to Composition API, Vuex to Pinia, and the Nuxt module changes that break quietly instead of loudly. It's tedious work but it's predictable, and I can usually give you a real estimate after an hour with your repo. Some recent projects: 1. DonorSite (Texas, US) — donor and campaign management platform. I built bulk upload, real-time notifications, and the filtering layer for large datasets. 2. BRTC Training Institute — a government driver training system. DRF APIs covering the full workflow, from enrollment through certification. 3. Quiz Craft — quiz platform with authentication, leaderboards, scoring, and email automation. Celery and Redis handle everything that shouldn't block a request. I use Docker so the thing that runs on my machine runs on yours. I write tests — Playwright for end-to-end, unit tests underneath — because I'd rather find a regression myself than hear about it from you. A few things worth knowing: I'm direct about timelines, including when something will take longer than you hoped. If I think you're solving the wrong problem I'll say so before I start building. And if a project isn't a good fit for me, I'll tell you that too rather than take it and do a mediocre job. Send me your repo, a Figma file, or just a description of what's broken. I'll tell you what I think it'll take.

I can't say for sure but I have the impression that very few people (if any) in the IT field have read the "Message to Garcia" by Elbert Hubbard. I have read it and I dare to consider myself one of the people, who are able to "bring the message". There always will be someone who is more creative, knows more or works faster than me. I am aware of that and I accept it. Still, I am quite confident of being a better prepared professional than the average IT guy. I have 20 years of experience in programming, database modelling, system design and architecture, business processes analyses and automation, basic managerial accounting, Linux and network administration, Asterisk (FreePBX) configuration. I have successfully solved various business-related software and hardware challenges. Being able to combine both low-level and high-level allows me to work on wide range of tasks. I have reverse engineered and fully decompiled about a dozen Delphi components and desktop applications. Assembler was my 2nd language (after BASIC) and my first significant application was a player for tracker music entirely written in Assembler - with bass/treble digital filters. I like digging deeper and understanding the root cause. I am quite good at debugging and troubleshooting - and this is not an empty claim. Some of my achievements: - developed 2 full-blown ERPs (for Walltopia and Composite-X) - developed 2 accounting / warehousing applications with OLAP reporting and hierarchical multi-dimensional accounts - developed Windows service daemon for logging Skype chats to a REST API in real-time - ported one large desktop application (Interactive Delphi Reconstructor) from Borland CBuilder to Delphi - implemented a company-wide real-time backup solution using Yadis or Bvckup, Samba and NappIT on OpenIndiana - developed Linux daemon for controlling large LED strips based on WS2811 (and organized into X/Y matrix) through TCP/UDP socket - developed combined CDR reporting, matching information from the local Asterisk PBX with billing information from the VoIP providers - implemented Linux daemon for reading SMDR/CDR data from Panasonic PBX TDA-200 and storing in MySQL with reporting capabilities - developed custom reporting module for a 3rd party security access control system and integrated it with the in-house ERP system I choose my clients as carefully as you choose your freelancers. I value honesty, respect, good communication, good sense of humor, intelligence, modesty, kindness, generosity. I prefer to develop from scratch custom business solutions automating the workflow of small businesses. My previous experience with the 2 ERP systems I already developed (and which are used 24/7 by customers and employees) is of enormous benefit. I feel truly happy when I am able to help a client by removing the burden and simplifying the workflow. What can you expect from me: - educating and explaining the things which are too technical and unfamiliar to you - asking good questions - providing meaningful advises and recommendations - not trying to suck additional money by finding extra work of low business value - understanding your real business needs and goals - keeping you from making worthless or unwise expenses - excellent responsiveness - taking precautions against damaging your data - really listening to you and your problems/pain points - acknowledging my faults - enjoying good jokes - not quietly disappearing after faced with some tough challenge - honestly admitting when I do not know something or not being qualified enough - not over-complicating the solution - being available for support and further assistance after the final deployment - solving difficult problems - positive skepticism - breadth of knowledge - ability to “finish” - introspective, self-motivated to constantly improve - perseverance, scrappy in the face of setbacks, doesn’t “get blocked” - systems design ability - empathy for users - taking pains to write readable and maintainable code - methodical and analytical: can diagnose the most mysterious bugs or find the source of performance bottlenecks

What does a Quasar Framework freelancer do?

A Quasar Framework freelancer builds and ships Vue.js applications that run across multiple platforms from a single codebase. This developer uses the Quasar toolchain to compile one set of source files into distinct outputs for web browsers, mobile devices, or desktop environments. They configure the build process to target specific modes such as Single Page Applications, Progressive Web Apps, or Server-Side Rendering. The work focuses on maintaining consistent user interface behavior while optimizing performance for each deployment target.

  • Configure the project initialization and build pipeline using Quasar CLI commands and the quasar.config file. This setup defines how the application boots, loads assets, and handles environment-specific variables before the root Vue component mounts. The freelancer registers boot files in the correct order to ensure dependencies initialize properly during the startup sequence.
  • Implement responsive user interfaces by composing pre-built Quasar UI components with custom Vue.js logic. This approach reduces the need for manual CSS styling while ensuring visual consistency across different screen sizes and device types. The developer wires client-side behavior to these components to create interactive features that react to user input and state changes.
  • Generate production-ready build artifacts for the selected runtime mode using specific Quasar CLI build flags. For Server-Side Rendering targets, this involves compiling distributables that follow the required SSR output structure for deployment. The freelancer verifies that routing, code splitting, and asset loading function correctly in the final compiled package.

How to hire a Quasar Framework freelancer on Upwork

Step 1: Post a job

Define your target runtime mode and UI requirements to attract the right developer. Use the Job Post Generator powered by Uma™, Upwork's Mindful AI to draft a precise description from a few sentences. You can write a new post, update a saved draft, or reuse an existing post.

  • Specify whether the app requires SPA, PWA, SSR, or SSG output to clarify the build configuration needs.
  • List required Vue.js patterns and state management tools like Pinia to confirm technical alignment.
  • Detail any mobile or desktop wrapper expectations to ensure the freelancer understands the full scope.

Step 2: Evaluate candidates

Review portfolios for single-codebase projects that ship to multiple platforms. Uma can run instant video interviews and build shortlists with side-by-side comparisons to speed up your selection process.

  • Look for examples of configured boot files and customized quasar.config setups in their code samples.
  • Check for production build artifacts that demonstrate clean SSR distributables or optimized PWA outputs.
  • Verify experience with Vue Router implementation and code splitting strategies for performance.

Step 3: Interview your top choices

Discuss their approach to initialization logic and component composition. Schedule and conduct interviews within Upwork Messages to receive an immediate transcript and summary after each session.

  • Ask how they structure boot files to manage dependencies before the root Vue component mounts.
  • Request examples of how they handle platform-specific quirks within a shared Quasar codebase.
  • Explore their method for debugging build issues across different CLI modes like dev and build.

Step 4: Agree on scope and begin work

Set clear milestones for configuration, UI implementation, and final build generation. Use Upwork Messages and the contract workroom for communication and project management, plus identity verification, payment protection, hourly tracking, and project funds for security.

  • Define deliverables such as the tuned quasar.config file and the initial set of Quasar UI components.
  • Establish a timeline for generating production-ready artifacts for the selected target mode.
  • Agree on testing criteria for routing behavior and state management integration before launch.

Frequently asked questions

Is hiring a Quasar Framework freelancer worth it?

For most businesses, yes: hiring a Quasar Framework freelancer is worthwhile. This approach lets you ship web, mobile, and desktop apps from one codebase instead of maintaining separate projects. You save time on configuration because the freelancer handles the Quasar CLI setup and boot files for your chosen target.

How do I evaluate Quasar Framework freelancer candidates?

Review their experience with Quasar CLI mode selection and boot file configuration to verify technical depth. Ask them to explain how they structure quasar.config for a specific build target like SSR or PWA. A strong candidate describes how they register initialization code in src/boot before the root Vue component mounts.

What deliverables should I expect from a Quasar Framework freelancer?

You receive production build artifacts for your selected mode, such as SPA, PWA, or SSR distributables. The freelancer also submits the configured quasar.config file and any custom boot files required for your app initialization.

Can a Quasar Framework freelancer build apps for multiple platforms?

Yes, they build apps for web, iOS, Android, and desktop from a single Vue.js codebase. They use Quasar CLI commands to generate the specific output files needed for each platform target.
