I am the Vice President of PR, Marketing and Internal Communications for the Nebraska Humane Society. Previously, I graduated from Iowa and spent eight years at the Omaha World-Herald as an online editor and writer. I am in charge of handling the NHS website, marketing strategies and social media presence, including Facebook (170K followers), Instagram (44K followers), Twitter/X (46K followers) and TikTok (212K followers). Hello! My name is Lydia Hernandez, and I am a junior at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln studying Sports Media & Communication, ADPR, and Broadcasting. I am from Omaha, Nebraska, and have always loved being creative since I was in preschool. I was always fascinated with the idea of a camera. I could take a photo of anything and keep it as long as I wanted to. After receiving my first phone in third grade, I wanted to be just like my older cousin, so I signed up for several social media platforms like Instagram, Vine, Pinterest and Snapchat. From then on, I knew that I wanted to be involved in the creative world, whether it be social media, photography, videography or writing. Bouncing off the walls with creativity has always been my thing. Currently, I hold a position with eight jobs, some of the most notable being with the Nebraska Athletic Departments Creative team, an Ambassador for the College of Journalism & Mass Communications and am also a business owner to my photography company.
