Real-life freelancers took over New York City’s Times Square with 228 professionals from around the world featured on 46 digital billboards around the iconic district. The display marked Upwork’s transition from a private to public company.

Behind the campaign

When given the opportunity to take over Times Square for a day, we knew exactly how to use the space: feature the freelance professionals who make Upwork possible.

The message

The campaign’s overall storyline and design illustrate that today’s office has no walls — flexible workers are the new way of working. The displays also showcase the diverse ecosystem of talent on Upwork that businesses can rely on to get complex projects done.
