I am a native English-speaker based in Auckland, New Zealand specialising in educational resource development (predominately for science courses at primary and secondary school level), research and writing education-based articles. My qualifications include a Bachelor of Science (Biological Sciences) and two Teaching Diplomas: Graduate Diploma in Secondary School Teaching and Post Graduate Diploma in TESSOL (Teaching English in Schools to Speakers of Other Languages). I have ten years classroom experience and have held a number of different roles during this time including Head of Biological Sciences and Specialist Classroom Teacher. As HOD, I developed excellent management skills of both paperwork and people and also developed numerous courses and assessments for a variety of different topics within Science and Biology. During this time, I also completed my TESSOL Diploma as I am a passionate advocate for subject-based literacy and wanted to find ways to improve the literacy levels of my Science and Biology students. My position as Specialist Classroom Teacher is one that is only awarded to one teacher per school in New Zealand and is probably one of the highlights of my teaching career. It recognises pedagogical mastery in the classroom irrespective of subject. The role itself is one of mentorship, where one is expected to assist other staff members in their classroom practice/management. After leaving teaching, I completed a course in copy editing and proof-reading to consolidate my editing knowledge further, and provide my clients with a diverse range of skills. Since then I have also gone on to develop resources and for schools who teach IGCSE as well as resources for use in the BMAT (Biomedical Admissions Test). Each year, I also complete work for the New Zealand's Education Ministry as a national exam marker. This position requires excellent time management and organization, a skill which I bring to my Upwork jobs as well. I pride myself on accuracy, efficiency and will ensure your document is polished, free of errors and returned to you promptly. I look forward to being of service to you in the future.Archivists

I have been a professional librarian since 2006 and hold a Masters in Library and Information Science (MLIS) and am a certified Archivist and Records Manager. In my 15 year career, I have worked in academic, public, and private libraries, and have answered thousands of research questions. Now, I love working for YOU. UpWork is the place where I can spend personalized time on research projects without the added responsibilities of staff meetings, budgets, etc. I excel at web research and know many hidden places to look for information. Additionally, I have access to a variety of academic databases and even if I can't find your answer, I excel in pointing people in the right direction. I also love developing research strategies for projects and setting up spreadsheets and methodology, which means I can often develop projects that can get taken over by non-experts. I consider myself a research expert and charge as such. However, I am flexible with rates depending on length of project and desired outcome. I look forward to hearing from you!Archivists

I have extensive professional writing experience with major internet publishers. If you need engaging prose, backed with solid research skills and sound SEO instincts, I can convey your message. My professional experience online goes back to being one of the first free-lance editors for Amazon.com in its earliest years. I later created a history site for IAC’s Dotdash (formerly About.com) and wrote and maintained it for a dozen years. I developed a specialty in recent years of writing about history, but I’ve written about all sorts of subjects, ranging from (long ago) coverage of punk bands to (much more recently) B2B business blogs.Archivists

Hello, my name is Tim Foxley. I am British, from London, now living in Sweden. I am educated to Master’s degree level (with a Distinction in Peace and Conflict Studies). I have twenty five years of British government work under my belt (in the defence and intelligence sectors), four years at an internationally acclaimed think-tank and ten years as an independent political/military analyst. In 2005 I receive the MBE for my analytical and written work. My core skills are reading, writing, drafting, editing, researching, fact-checking and creative thinking. Some of my analytical work has been published. My English language skills are excellent. I have a good eye for detail, nuance, structure and layout. I guarantee total confidentiality and impartiality. I am very happy to advise, brainstorm, critique, proofread and assist with comments and ideas for your projects. I have been interviewed on TV and radio and have spoken at the UN, NATO and RUSI. I have an extensive interest in history, military history and conflict. I have read extensively about the wars of the 20th century, particularly WW2, but am interested in a diverse range of historical subjects. As a freelance writer I have written seven books for a Kindle/Amazon publisher – five biographies of World War Two combat pilots, one of a Soviet WW2 army commander and one about a British commando group. I also have a ghost-writing contract with a Swedish publishing company and have written books about the 1879 Zulu War, the 1899-1902 Boer War and the 1943 Battle of Kursk. I am now researching to write books on the 1944 Battle of the Bulge and the 1982 Falklands conflict. Feedback I have received from my Upwork freelance work includes: "Tim's expertise and passion for history, especially his attention to detail, significantly enriched the scriptwriting process. He crafted a captivating and thoroughly researched narrative tailored to the given topic. Impressed by his work, I have enlisted his services for more projects." “Overall I really loved your script and your lively, engaging writing style - it kept me interested the whole way through which is perfect, it's what our channel needs! You're a great writer!” “Your scripts have been excellently researched so there haven't been any fact checking problems…it's been so refreshing to read scripts like yours that are so clearly written by a talented, real writer. So that's a long way of saying I have absolutely no issues with your process. So please let me know when you are ready for another…” "Thanks, Tim! I really enjoyed this and thought you did an amazing job with both the tone and structure. Even after doing videos on the xxxx on other channels, I still felt like I learned a lot from this.” "Outstanding research and writing from Tim. Really did help us reach our goals with his writing and was a real pleasure to work with. Such a professional and delivered above and beyond and would like to work with him again…” I have a diverse range of skills and experiences: I have had military training in the British Territorial Army reserves. I am an amateur historian and a musician. I have completed operational tours of duty in Bosnia and Afghanistan. I have just finished a science fiction novel about time travel. I am a very keen punk rock guitarist and a much less keen marathon runner. I would be very happy to informally discuss your needs, provide you with some initial thoughts and send examples of my written work, so please feel free to get in touch. Hello potential client: I am a versatile freelancer with over twenty years of academic research, writing, and editing experience. My work has been published in academic journals and books, as well as more popular magazines. I pride myself in providing quality work – no matter the job – to all of my clients. My background as a teacher at the university level has given me a unique perspective to examine academic writing, which will be beneficial to you as a client. I earned a PhD in history from the University of Memphis (2012), writing my dissertation on dynastic change in Late Period ancient Egypt (728-331 BC). I also have a MA from the University of Memphis in ancient Egyptian art history, and a BA in history from Minnesota State, Mankato. Although my historical passion is in the ancient world, I have studied nearly every period of human history. As a historical expert, I will provide you with key insight and research into whatever topic assigned, accessing a variety of source materials to complete the project. Due to my background in ancient Egyptian history, I have extensively utilized a number of languages, modern and ancient, in my research and writing. During graduate school, I took four years of formal coursework in ancient Egyptian languages, focusing primarily on the Middle Egyptian form of the language, but am also familiar with the Late Egyptian form and have an elementary understanding of Coptic. This knowledge can be utilized by you the client in a number of ways, from course preparation to original research. My knowledge of ancient Egyptian can also be used in some more “creative” ways, including writing modern names, jokes, and any number of fun things one can think of to write Egyptian. I can also read modern German, French, and Spanish, which is useful to keep abreast of recent academic work from around the world in a given field. My experience in academia, and now on this platform, has allowed me the chance to edit and proof-read hundreds of term papers, theses, dissertations, book chapters, and journal articles. As a former student, I know how important it is to produce a well-written paper to not only get a good grade in your class, but also to use that paper as a springboard to further your academic career. Since I am currently a writer and researcher, I also know how important it is to keep your name in the field by producing work that is publishable in peer reviewed publications. I have been through the process and know what those publications expect from their writers. Although my background is in history, I have helped edit and proof-read papers from scores of different backgrounds – from computer science to biology and from economics to anthropology. Over the course of teaching for ten years at the university level, I acquired experience in a number of areas that you can utilize. I have extensive experience grading papers and using rubrics, writing course material, and creating my own lectures using Microsoft PowerPoint. I have also studied various pedagogical theories and practices. My teaching experience also gave me the opportunity to become a better public speaker. I have given hundreds of hours of lectures in the classroom and have presented my research at regional, national, and international academic conferences. This experience, along with helping a number of clients on this platform craft speeches, has allowed me to become a top tier speech writer. I have written and edited speeches for awards ceremonies, business presentations, and academic forums, demonstrating that my abilities are varied and diverse. Finally, once I have helped you put together an award winning paper or presentation, I will help you create or edit an excellent letter and resume/CV to go with it. I will help you write an application letter that will help you land that assistantship or fellowship, and I can also help you with cover letters when it is time to start job hunting. I have over 25 years of genealogy research experience. My specialty is in southern states and in slave research. I am very experienced in working on genealogies that are complicated or where records are scarce, such as finding records in often overlooked places. When county records are burned or missing, there are often records at the state level or military records and possibly records in adjoining counties. I have experience working with land documents (county, state, and federal), court documents (including estate records), also tax, military, and census records. I have a program that can plat out land boundaries and add notes and descriptions. I am also experienced in using DNA results to help find clues when few or no documents exist. The more problematic it seems, the more I enjoy solving it! I know where records are located and how to access many types of records that are not available online and that most people are not aware of or wouldn't think to look. I have researched and published a book of records for one of my family surnames. I have also helped index and transcribe records for the LDS, for their genealogy based website familysearch.org. Through the years I have transcribed thousands of deeds, wills, and other records for my personal research and for clients. I have also transcribed some audio interviews.Archivists

I write and edit non-fiction content, for both general and academic audiences, including articles, knowledge entries, book writing and editing, course outlines, and biographical profiles. I've written news articles on many topics and have learned there is no subject beyond my ability to research and understand it. Most recently the first of nine books on landmark Supreme Court cases was published, "The Supreme Court and Religion: An assessment and full detail on recent landmark cases" (2021, 375 pp.). For this book I wrote the Introduction, Conclusion and supporting essays about each case. As a former attorney, my legal education, experience, and research skills give me a unique perspective on many issues and the tools to bring that to bear. I've written or edited contracts, correspondence, proposals, and numerous court motions and briefs. I have also published numerous peer-reviewed academic pieces, including book reviews, encyclopedia entries, and journal articles. I've also written critical analyses of qualitative research; a "critical analysis" is a systematic process used to identify the strengths and weakness of a research article in order to assess the usefulness and validity of research findings. Every client I have worked with has praised my work, no one has rated me lower than 4.5 stars. Over 18 months I've worked with 7 clients on 11 jobs: 2 clients aborted the jobs early on; 1 hired me for one job & praised my work; 3 praised my work and hired me again; and 1 hired me & praised my work, but it was too recent to rehire me yet. That is a job success rate of 100%.Archivists
