Freelance writer since 2012. Author of *Herbalism: Plants & Potions That Heal* through Arcturus Publishing, Nov. 2022. I've worked with brands such as Healthline, WebMD, Sunkist, 1800Flowers, & many more in my 10 year career.
Writing specialties are Food, Agriculture, Organic Farming, Health, Nutrition, Herbalism, Gardening, Local Food, and Sustainability. Certified Herbalist since 2012 through two programs.
These subjects aren't just my specialty. With each client, it is my #1 priority to make these passions highly visible and important to both clients and their target audiences alike - whether through simple blogging to full-on marketing and product copy.

Organic farmer since 2009. Owner of Driftless Iowa organic farm Jupiter Ridge LLC, specializing in sustainably-grown produce and mushrooms. Past contributor to Healthline and Rodale's Organic Life, with bylines in The Guardian, Civil Eats, Good Housekeeping, and more.
Media coverage and interviews about me and farming/writing work have been covered by or appear in publications such as GoSolo, Salon, Civil Eats, Dyersville Commercial, Manchester Press, Guttenberg Press, and more. As an avid self-starter, I've pieced together my freelance career from scratch: quickly constructing a stellar portfolio and working my way up the ranks on sheer talent and work ethic alone.
Ultimately I am an eclectic freelancer: Editor, Article Writer, SEO-Specialized Blogger, and occasional Freelance Journalist; as well as a Content Writer, Product Writer, and Strategic Marketing Copywriter, with ambitions for branching into new writing territory constantly.
I have solid expertise in WordPress formatting and publishing as well as running a WooCommerce online store, in addition to managing Social Media marketing (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Pinterest) and some Social Media graphic design (PowerPoint), which number among my skills. I am also adept at TikTok editing, publishing, and filmmaking.
Writing doesn't just require excellent grammar and a grasp of good language - it also demands intuition. Clients note my ability to put myself in their shoes, taking practically no time to see and understand exactly what clients are striving to materialize through written word, and how to market that to their readers.
*Rates, Scheduling, Revisions, Rush Fees, Etc. - Read Below*
My per-word rate for new clients is $.30 and my hourly rate $80 per hour. If bids any lower than above rates are received through job invites, I will assume that this overview has not been read by the potential client, and that they are not fully acquainted with the quality of my work, my profile, and my career - and I will dismiss and decline the invitation immediately.
If you would like a test article at less than my asking rate or for free, I will assume the same as above. Please peruse my portfolio for examples of my quality work instead of requesting free or lesser-rate work.
*An explanation for my higher rates:* Unlike other freelance writers, I live precisely the life I write about as an organic farmer and herbalist, while also managing farm and herbalism businesses in real life. As a result, you won't find more authentic content on these subjects - such as growing your own food, herbal remedies, or organic farming content - anywhere else.
I have found over the years that Google and other search engines LOVE my writing! SEO strategy is naturally built into everything I write. Still, without even purposefully applying SEO optimization to all my work and clients, I have seen some of my work climb to the #1 page (or #1 spot, or featured snippet) in Google searches in under a few weeks.
*For fixed-price contracts,* I grant each client 2 rounds of reasonable edits/revisions at no additional charge per piece. If more than two rounds of revisions are needed (or a major rewrite requested), or if there are requested additions to the project that client did not include in the project brief, then each consecutive round afterward (third, fourth, so on), major rewrite, or request for client's missing information/communications will cost an additional 20% of the total fixed price.
For spur-of-the-moment projects established with next-day deadlines or 1 to 2 day turnarounds, I will charge a rush free depending on the scope or demands of the project. The highest quality freelance writers you'll work with naturally have many clients as a rule. I set up strict deadline schedules a week in advance to meet all my client's needs and in a timely and reasonable fashion.
