I specialise in challenging go-to-market projects, designing and developing devices, circuits and software where the assumptions are yet to be tested and specifications are early phase. Over 20 years I have delivered deep tech programmes for the MOD, NHS and delivered into clients including Abbott, J&J, PALL, and Fujifilm. My training in sensors, electronic circuit design, biochemistry and embedded AI edge systems will guide rapid progress. My PhD focused on machine learning of receptor structures for biosensing applications, combining electronics design, computational modelling of biological systems, and sensor development. Clients often arrive with an early-phase concept, a market need, and a scope that is unclear. My first job is to identify which assumptions actually matter, design the experiments that test them, and produce a proof of concept with real evidence behind it. For teams past that point, I take that foundation through full hardware development to a compliant, market-ready device with all the certificates of conformity. I build first prototypes in-house using my own prototyping equipment, without the cost or lead times of an external build house. I design and review electronic circuits and schematics, lay out PCBs in Altium Designer and KiCad, develop embedded firmware in C and C++, design and prototype wearables from concept through to enclosure in SolidWorks, and prepare the regulatory evidence required for CE marking, UKCA, and EU MDR submissions.
