My background is 20 years of mechanical design in film and television special effects, which means bespoke fabricated equipment, tight deadlines, and drawings that have to work on the shop floor because there is no second chance on a film set. That experience includes a 1,000-tonne underwater rotating structure cited as the largest special effects rig ever built for a feature film.
