I’m an Industrial Designer, Footwear Designer, Product Developer with broad experience helping companies design and develop footwear and other products. In a bigger sense, I help brands grow their market share, satisfy customers and increase profits by generating new revenue streams with competitive high-value high margin products. For the first 10 years of my career, I was a Product Designer, Design Engineer and Project Manager focused on manufacturing, cost, quality, and ergonomics in the Ceilings, Housewares, and Marine industries. This is where I became exposed to Engineering, Science, and R&D and developed a love of materials, solving problems and building things - on the shop floor, working with engineers, craftsmen, and factory workers to improve quality while optimizing production and manufacturability issues for existing products while developing new products. In 2000 I entered the fast-paced Footwear Industry, coordinating, designing and developing, working daily with and traveling to factories in Asia and South America. Still working with technical development, tooling, manufacturing, production, quality, and cost, but now also dealing with fashion and how products fit on the human body, technical materials for comfort, performance and sustainability. My 20+ years of experience in the Footwear and Apparel Industry includes working with retailers, corporate global brands, licensed brands such as Cole Haan, Kenneth Cole, Ninewest, Easyspirit, Sperry, And1, Avia, Everlast as well as startups, inventors and working as an expert witness in the legal realm. My main focus has been Designing, Technical Development, Line Building, Merchandising, Trend Research, Brand Strategy, Sourcing, Manufacturing and fitting, and I have been involved in commercializing thousands of products from concept thru to production, including contributing to several footwear patents. My greatest value to you will be as an advisor, helping to guide you and your footwear brand by listening to your situation and giving you the reality of what you're facing - the pros and cons, to help you make the best decisions to move forward, selecting the right materials, finding the best fit factory and then developing prototypes, samples and then getting to production. For real solutions to design, development, costing, fitting, sourcing, quality issues and more, you need more than an illustrator/sketcher/designer. That's where I can help you the most. I do sketch and create illustrations, but there's a lot more to footwear design and development than just that. I'm available for phone/video consultations, one time or weekly for just a few hours if that's all you need, or more for ongoing questions and answers. I look forward to hearing from you to discover what it is you need help with. Buy an hour of my time so we can discuss your project and I can give you an idea of what will be involved, some of the pitfalls you may face, and reveal the process that works, as well as likely costs en route to production. Once we are through that, if you have more questions or specifics you need to dig into to start the process or to solve issues, or even to evaluate your current shoes and chart a course forward, I suggest we start a project based on a set number of hours per biweekly or monthly period, and we can tackle issues as needed. I also know all about CAD and 3d Printing, and we can go that route if thats needed, but often times this is not a critical tool in the process. I can explain on our call. I look forward to speaking with you and helping you move forward!

I've been designing and drafting for over 4 years. I've got an extensive history of experience with a multitude of different software which have helped me in completing a broad category of jobs. This includes software in CAD/CAM Design/Drafting, Graphic Design, Website Design, electronic programming (Arduino,)PCB creation (Fusion 360,) Office apps with Microsoft and Google. I also have extensive experience with 3D printers (SLS/FDM) and CNC machines. CAD/CAM Design/Drafting: Autodesk's Inventor, AutoCAD, Fusion 360, Rhino 3D, and Blender. Graphic Design: Adobe's Illustrator, Acrobat, Animator, and Photoshop. I like to choose the best software to get the jobs done but sometimes that involves more than one so I've decided to learn different software to be as efficient as possible. With Rhino I can create products or architecture with complex surfacing using Nurbs or SubD. I tend to use Fusion 360 or Inventor for the assembly of parts, solid modeling and for my drafting needs. Inventor's frame generator helps me with truss designs. With Adobe's suite of products I can design just about anything visually for any commercial needs. I then bring those graphic designs from illustrator or photoshop into animator for any 2D animation needs. I've programmed a range of electronics that have included lights, DC motors, Stepper Motors, Sensors all working together. I've held designer positions at manufactures including Regal Boats and JRCO Fabrication, working with upholstery, metalworking, woodworking, and have drafted up professional documents for them and their clients.
