As a Manufacturing Engineer, my duties are to design not only the parts that customers need, but also, help optimize the part design, prototype the design, create detailed blueprints for manufacturing and even design the injection mold tools that will produce the parts in mass.
After the design is started, I collect all information to assist with the part designing process. I create the preliminary part design then, work with the customers to make any adjustments that may be needed.
Through this time I 3d print prototypes if needed to send to the client. We then have a final review to make sure the design is functioning and cost effective for manufacturing processes.
Once the design is approved, I can design the injection mold tool if needed. I can help to source manufacturing and offer consulting for any questions through the entire process.
For some customers I program the CNC mills and lathes in order to produce every component needed to make the parts or injection mold tools.
At my full time job I work doing all of the same things from above, We design parts, and injection molds, build the molds then run them all in house.
After the first run we verify all dimensions are within tolerance make any changes needed then start production.
I have designed many molds that are being used for 5-10 year+ contracts making automotive parts, aerospace, military and defense, government contracts, medical etc.
I have 15 years of experience in 3d modeling, concept design, part design, 3d printing and rapid prototyping, CNC programming and much more.
I'm proficient in Solidworks, AutoCAD, Camworks, Fusion 360, Inventor and many other programs used to design parts.
I'm taking online classes for Manufacturing Engineering at Sinclair Community College in my spare time.
I have the following certifications for SolidWorks and Camworks:
Associate- Mechanical Design (CSWA)
Associate- Additive Manufacturing (CSWA-AM)
Professional- Mechanical Design (CSWP)
Professional- Advanced Mold Making (CSWP-AMM)
Professional- Advanced Surfacing (CSWP-AS)
Professional- Advanced Drawing Tools (CSWP-DT)
14 Camworks certifications
112 SolidWorks certifications (continuing education from 2010-present)
If I can help assist in any CAD designs, product designs, CNC programming,3d printing/ prototyping, product rendering, manufacturing, sourcing, reverse engineering, injection mold design, 3d printing or anything else please reach out as I'd love to see if I can help.

What I Do:
Product Design & Prototyping – CAD design, rapid prototyping, and DFM.
Tooling & Mold Design – Plastic injection molds, compression molds, die casting, jigs, and fixtures.
CNC Programming & Machining Support – 3-axis/ programming, setup optimization, and part accuracy.
Manufacturing Consulting – Material selection, cost reduction strategies, and supplier sourcing.
NOTE: I have (50) 5 star reviews, and (1) 1 star review, the 1 star review was from a client that had no understanding of what they were doing and ignored every attempt to work with them.
Customer satisfaction is very important to me. Unfortunately when a client repeatedly ignores your requests to work together as a team and fails to understand the work involved, there is nothing I can do about that.

Hi, my name is Zack and I’m a mechanical engineer. I have approximately 5 years of work experience involving work with CAD design, 3D printing, design for manufacturing, and project management. I have used Freeform, Solidworks, Inventor and Fusion 360 design software. I primarily use Autodesk Inventor and Fusion 360 today. I graduated from Northern Arizona University in Fall 2020 Cum Laude with a degree in mechanical engineering. I’m currently working as a senior manufacturing engineer/project manager where I take customer requirements, convert them into 3D models for approval and take them through the manufacturing processes. I am responsible for all projects through each step of our processes in a sheet metal environment so I am familiar with laser cutting, CNC machining, bending, welding, assembly, and powder coating. I also tutored mathematics in college where I learned crucial problem solving skills.

I run Hattendorf Design & Solutions, a small manufacturing-focused design consultancy specializing in CAD, tooling, and design-for-manufacture. My work sits at the intersection of engineering design and the shop floor—helping clients turn concepts, legacy parts, or problem designs into manufacturable, production-ready solutions.
I don’t just model parts to look good on screen. I design them to survive machining, molding, casting, inspection, and assembly.
What I Do Best
✔ Production-Ready CAD & Drawings
Parametric CAD models and clear manufacturing drawings built for real-world tolerances and processes.
(SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo)
✔ Tooling & Mold Design
Design support for:
Casting tooling and patterns
Injection and permanent molds
Fixtures and manufacturing aids
✔ DFM & Manufacturability Reviews
Identify tolerance risks, draft issues, parting problems, and cost drivers before they hit the shop.
✔ Reverse Engineering & Reconstruction
Turn scans, physical parts, or incomplete data into clean, editable CAD ready for production and inspection.
✔ Prototyping Support
3D printing and validation workflows to de-risk designs prior to tooling or release.
Recent Project Experience
Designed tooling and molds for aluminum and polymer components, reducing lead times and rework
✔Reconstructed legacy parts and tooling into modern parametric CAD for repeatable production
Supported machine shops and foundries with designs meeting strict tolerance, inspection, and DFM requirements
✔Delivered drawings and models that integrate smoothly into CNC, QC, and inspection workflows
