Hello! I am an author, editor, book designer, and publisher with 15+ years of daily publishing experience. I am an expert in self-publishing solutions for print and eBook formats.
I have extensive knowledge of Amazon KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing), Draft2Digital, IngramSpark, Lulu, and other print and eBook platforms.
I have published over 400 books myself and countless books with my clients from all over the world. I work on non-fiction, fiction, poetry, art books, children's books, and everything in between!
I offer page design, eBook conversions, editing and proofreading, and extensive self-publishing knowledge that can take your project from draft to publication. I often take on a project management role for my clients, offering book shepherding, helping find cover designers, and going through the many options and considerations of being an independent author or small publisher.
I operated, promoted, edited, and funded Leaf Garden Press for over 10 years, where we published 20+ books alongside an arts and literature magazine. I have worked with many other small presses on similar projects as an editor, designer, and publishing consultant focusing on fiction, creative non-fiction, and poetry. My background also includes publishing work for large and small companies in virtually every industry.
I have produced and published hundreds of books based on market research and Amazon product page optimization techniques. Although I do not offer sales guarantees or extensive marketing services, I bring what I know about the Amazon indexing system to each book I work on.
I am always onboarding new clients, and I strive to provide a personalized experience that meets the needs of each client.

Book Design Services:
I offer page design for print books and have a high-level understanding of print-on-demand requirements, limitations, and considerations. If you're working with offset printers, all I need are the specifications your printer requires.
I also offer manual eBook conversions for Kindle and ePub formats, which are typically appropriate for any distribution method, including Apple, Nook, and Kobo. This includes extensive testing of eBook files and verification of ePubcheck compliance required for publication and distribution.

Self-Publishing Advice:
If you're new to self-publishing, my generic advice is to use a combination of Amazon KDP, IngramSpark, and Draft2Digital to publish/distribute your books in print and eBook formats. While we can go directly to some markets, this combination will cover all of the major online retailers for both print and eBook formats, as well as many smaller retailers.
Sometimes, this combination may not be the best for your needs, so feel free to reach out and discuss your goals in more detail. I can effectively walk you through the entire self-publishing process, including distribution planning, ISBNs, LCCNs, design, accounts and submissions, etc. I can be your right-hand man and demystify the entire process.

Editing Services:
For editing and proofreading, I suggest the use of Microsoft Word's track changes features. Editing and proofreading include checking sentence structure, grammar, punctuation, spelling, formatting errors, and much more.
I can only accept a handful of editing/proofreading jobs at a time. Whether due to time restraints or content knowledge, I will always be honest if I do not believe I'm a good fit for your manuscript. I can often provide referrals when needed.
---
Consultation-Only Services:
For some projects, I work only as a consultant/assistant. This includes expert-level advice, reviewing print and eBook designs, and hands-on work when needed. Whether you haven't started yet or you're already in the middle of publishing work, I can help you get on track for publication.
Unfortunately, I cannot provide specific estimates for consultation-only work.
---
Free Consultation:
Potential clients are offered a free consultation to help determine if we're a good fit to work together, scope the work involved, and answer any of your initial questions.
Before we schedule any live discussion, I will ask you to share a little bit about your publishing goals and the most recent version of your manuscript with me. This helps us prepare for a helpful consultation. I can always sign a non-disclosure agreement before you send me any materials.
After an initial consultation, I will usually be able to provide an itemized estimate before any hiring and work begins. This generally includes a final price range, and as long as no new work is added, I can often guarantee the top end of the pricing so everything is as transparent as possible.
