The ideal candidate will have experience working in agile teams, with developers, other UI and UX designers and copywriters. You will be able to make deliberate design decisions and to translate any given user-experience journey into a smooth and intuitive interaction.
Experience leading the design efforts for one or more successful – successfully shipped or successfully downloaded – online or mobile products. You know great UX, and you can walk us through your portfolio and tell a compelling story about the hard decisions and compromises you had to make along the way.
About The Team
Project Raven is an independent startup product development team funded by an established and innovative company that specializes in corporate security. Our purpose is to create a beautiful, scaleable web product that no corporate security manager in the world can live without. You will be the first UX or design resource added to the team and will help shape the future of the product, along with other carefully selected designers and engineers. A results-only work environment (ROWE), we don’t care what time you work or where you work -- just that the results get done. As a startup, much of our technology will be chosen to best fit the challenge, but our web stack will focus on Ruby on Rails and SQL on Amazon Web Services (AWS).
You understand why we have UI best practices, and you don’t try to reinvent dropdowns with each new project. You want the interface to look as polished as possible, but you also value a good hard deadline.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of an organization. You design it, you pitch it. Nobody hides behind project managers here.
An insatiable curiosity and a constant drive to do and be better. You download new apps and take screenshots. You try out new design tools. You attend industry events. You do stuff on the side. You love what you do, you want to be great at it, and you know there’s always something new to learn.
- Ability to work with clients to understand detailed requirements and design complete user experiences that meet client needs and vision.
- Extensive experience in using UX design best practices to design solutions, and a deep understanding of mobile-first and responsive design.
- A solid grasp of user-centered design and testing methodologies, subsystems, and usability and accessibility concerns.
