Seeking self-motivated, a ​detailed-oriented person for a home based Bookkeeping Assistant position. This role will provide bookkeeping and administrative support for my life insurance business and other projects. Duties include verifying revenue, expense payments, payroll processing and reporting, posting revenue/expenses, month-end reporting, year-end preparation, assist with tax return preparation, renew licenses, state reporting as required, hiring, backup of other personnel and special projects as needed. This is an East Coast based position. Candidate must be able to make this position their #1 priority, meet via virtual meetings and be skilled using Microsoft office products to create memos, letters, spreadsheets, etc. Equipment needed include a phone with unlimited long distance, computer with high-speed Internet access, scanner and printer. This position will require applicant to be available 15-20 hours a week on average but could be more during training period and tax season. I'm thinking about buying an Auto Repair Shop and need some tax advice. Or advice from someone good at math. The shop is for sale for $135,000 - all inclusive. I will be the owner, and I will have one employee who I want to pay on the books $10.00 to $15.00/hr. Previous owner had a profit of roughly $60,000 per year. My hope is to bring it up to about $80,000 per year. My mortgage, tax, water & sewer payments will be around $2,500/mo. Insurance will be about $300/mo. I do NOT want my personal taxes to show that I am making any more money than I am now. So if the business is making a profit of $500 or $500,000 per year I do NOT want my taxes to show that as income for me personally. Given this, 1. Would it make more sense to incorporate as an LLC or C-Corp? I want to keep the taxes and business completely separate from my own taxes. What would be the business tax rate difference between the two? 2. If I did do an LLC, is it possible to not do run-through taxes? E.g., file a separate tax return for the company? 3. If I have a profit but invest it back in the business, is it still reportable as profit? 4. Any other issues you can think of?

I started an amazon store in January 2015. Things have gone great, done roughly $600,000 in sales January 2015 - June 2016. I have put the business pretty much on hold to get all of my tax and accounting situation perfected and a stellar system in place before I grow larger. I am an online seller on amazon. I purchased electronics in wholesale from companies when they were going out of business as well as clearance stock from other retailers. I am now transitioning to a private label electronics business sourcing from Asia and distributing on Amazon as wells as setting up a website. What the job would look like: - I envision us having a long skype session 1-4 hours depending on how great we get along and how in depth we go addressing the topics below. - If we enjoy working with one another we can create a relationship and do business in the future (I would love to find a CPA to do yearly taxes and on demand paid advice). PLEASE NOTE: I am looking to be buying advice right now so please come into it with that mindset of being a mentor / advisor / consultant. Most CPAs offer a free consultation but hold back and don't offer any real meat until you pay them monthly. I want the meat right now so I'm willing to pay for a consulting appointment where nothing is held back, and if we get along great I would love to pay for every encounter we have and create a business relationship if it makes sense for both of us. Every single CPA I read online wants me to pay monthly for some service package that has all this stuff I don't need and lacks in the stuff I actually need... I am not so much interested in that. I would instead prefer to pay on demand for the services and advice that I need and to create a long term relationship. I filed for an extension last year for 2015 taxes and I need advice on topics such as... 1. How to file tax returns for 2015 (I filed an extension and paid a pretty accurate estimate payment this past year) 2. Best practices for chart of accounts and book keeping in general 3. Quarterly vs yearly taxes 4. Transferring/transitioning from sole prop to llc 5. Account reconciliation in quickbooks 6. How to hire book keepers / have 3rd parties help me 7. What reoccurring processes should be done to ensure the books are up to date ( such as account reconciliation and 3rd party audits (i have no idea what a 3rd party audit is or what it entails but I hear a lot of CPAs talk about it)) 8. How to find an accountant to help file my 2015 taxes and to do future filings (perhaps it can be you :) ) 9. Discrepancies between cash based and accrual based accounts (amazon reported an extra 50,000 in sales but didn't pay me until January, they are accrual based I am cash based so how do I account for this and which year tax return does it go on) 10. overview of everything I should be tracking to make the IRS happy in the scenario of an audit as well as everything to track to make life easy for my CPA. My goal and vision is to create an automated streamlined process where I go into my quickbooks at the end of each month and categorize all of my expenses and then send it to a virtual assistant to do my account reconciliation. I would then have a more advanced professional review my books come year end before throwing them off to the CPA. Perhaps this vision can be enhanced and more efficiently planned.
