⭐ With 7 years of experience writing code, I have developed a high proficiency in both programming and data analysis. A large part of my skillset was developed during my PhD where I created an Agent-Based computational model to investigate a novel system of protein regulation. The model was built using a combination of python and C++ scripts and designed as parallel code on a GPU for enhanced performance. Two first author papers are currently under review while a third paper has already been published in Scientific Reports. 👨‍💻In 2020/2021, I completed a software development internship at Certara – a world-class pioneer in pharmacokinetic modelling. Here, I wrote python scripts in a professional capacity as part of a multi-company collaborative project. The scripts reviewed and compiled pre-clinical information using API calls to build a curated object-orientated database. Results from the adjoining data analysis were given to clients as easy to understand data plots for intuitive data visualization. 🎓 I love taking opportunities to further enhance my ability to leverage code to address research requestions. This included completing a master’s module in Parallel GPU programming and a software development internship. I have a deep passion for both writing code and data science and I am always searching for new ventures where these skills can be applied. I look forward to bringing my diverse skills and dedication to benefit you. 📖 Portfolio: My PhD thesis is available online by searching “Lewis Hancock - Modelling complexity and redundancy in endocytic actin polymerisation”. Information about the Certara internship can be found online by searching “Lewis Hancock – Certara Simcyp”. My areas of expertise: 🔷Developing code (python, C/C++, R) 🔷Analyzing data in a methodical and appropriate manner 🔷A deep understanding of collecting primary research data 🔷Specialist knowledge in the fields of Biochemistry and Bioinformatics 🔷Addressing specific research questions through creative approaches

I am a UK based Bioinformatician and Data Scientist with more than seven years of experience in genomics, data analysis, and reproducible pipeline development. I help researchers, healthcare teams, laboratories, and biotechnology companies turn complex sequencing data into clear and useful results. My main areas of expertise include whole genome sequencing, whole exome sequencing, RNA sequencing, microbial genomics, metagenomics, GWAS, variant analysis, differential expression, pathway enrichment, and multi omics analysis. I have worked on around 200 genomics projects and have experience handling large clinical and research datasets using R, Python, Bash, SQL, Nextflow, and Snakemake. I also work with AWS, Azure, Linux, and high performance computing systems. My analysis experience includes tools such as GATK, BWA, SAMtools, FreeBayes, ANNOVAR, scikit learn, and TensorFlow. In my current role as a Senior Bioinformatician, I design and maintain end to end NGS pipelines, perform variant calling and interpretation, analyse RNA sequencing data, and apply machine learning methods to genomics and multi omics datasets. I regularly work with clinicians, statisticians, researchers, and project leads to define analysis plans and explain complex findings in a clear way. I have also contributed to public health genomic surveillance, cancer genomics, pathogen analysis, clinical research, and scientific publications. I am an author of six peer reviewed research papers. My goal is simple: to provide accurate, reproducible, and well explained bioinformatics solutions that help clients make confident research and business decisions. I can support you with: • NGS data analysis • RNA sequencing and differential expression • Whole genome and whole exome analysis • Variant calling and annotation • Microbial genomics and metagenomics • GWAS and pathway analysis • Bioinformatics pipeline development • Machine learning for biological data • R and Python data analysis • Scientific reporting and data visualisation I focus on clear communication, reliable analysis, strong quality control, and results that are easy to understand and reuse.

I'm Amir, a biomedical AI engineer working across genomics, physiological signal processing, and medical imaging. Most of what I build has to hold up in a real clinical context, not just perform well on a clean test set. The largest system I've built end to end is a precision health platform. Patients register, fill out an intake form, then upload their test results, blood work, microbiome panels, and raw genetic data files. From there the platform runs continuous analysis, not a one-time report, and generates personalized outputs: nutrition plans, exercise recommendations, daily routines, and medical suggestions the patient can bring to their doctor. I also built out a peptide and pathway analysis layer on top of this. For the AI side, I used an ensemble approach, running multiple models together when that improved reliability, and routing to a single model when that was a better fit for the task. On top of the patient-facing side, I built a personalized medical assistant that adapts based on user feedback, plus a layer where a physician can configure their own agent that their patients then use. The whole thing runs on a proper auth system with role-based access for patients and providers. On the genomics side specifically, I work with raw genotype files, classifying variants using ACMG guidelines and cross-referencing against ClinVar and GWAS Catalog data, then generating polygenic risk scores across a few hundred conditions. I've also built parsers for lab and microbiome reports (tests like MITOswab and GI Effects), turning them into something a clinician can actually read, in English or Persian. Outside of that platform, I've worked on EEG and ECG signal processing (QRS detection, feature extraction, clustering), including sleep apnea detection from wrist actigraphy data and Parkinson's/ADHD classification using CNN/LSTM models. I've also built CNN and YOLO-based models for medical imaging tasks like bone fracture detection and lung disease classification. I've published in IEEE and SN Computer Science, and I review submissions for Frontiers in Neuroscience. That background shapes how I approach client work too, I'd rather flag a limitation in the data or the model early than let something look good in a demo and fall apart in practice. If you're building something in precision health, genomics, biosignal analysis, medical imaging, or a clinical decision support tool, I'd be glad to talk through what you're working on.
