Please read completely as many common questions are answered here. Born and raised in Ohio, I am a native English speaker and have a BA in English from Kent State University. For five years, I taught language, reading, and honors creative writing to junior and senior high students, writing my own drama and creative writing curriculum. Over the course of my career, I have released nearly a dozen YA novels, short story collections, a collection of plays, a cookbook, and a book on writing. I have worked as a freelance writer / ghostwriter in both non-fiction and fiction capacities, writing everything from captions and copy to short stories and novels in myriad genres. While my forte is fiction, I do accept non-fiction work. I've created characters and outlines, as well as writing from a provided outline, and can work with as much or as little as the client wishes. All work is 100% original, meaning that unless otherwise instructed by a client, I do not outsource work to other freelancers and I do not use generative AI programs. None of my writing, including any provided samples, were assisted or created by AI. Much of my work as a ghostwriter has made Amazon's top 100 ebook lists at least once, and I have had more than one make USA Weekend's Bestseller list. I have been freelancing since 2002 and have been writing full-time since December 2012. As I sign NDAs with all of my clients and while some do give permission for me to use parts of that work as writing samples, I cannot provide full chapters of any work I have done for clients. I can only provide chapters from my own work, which is all YA. I do not write samples over 500 words on request without payment. I require all communication to be through a messaging platform, which means no phone or Zoom interviews, though I am happy to set a time for an Upwork message chat interview. My current Upwork hourly rate is $40/hr and my current Upwork per word rate is $0.06/word. This is based on my experience and what my current clients are paying. Outlining, story development, and revision options vary for per word / fixed rate work and are not provided without additional compensation. I work on a first-come, first-serve basis, and that comes by contract, not discussion. I can advise what my schedule looks like at any given time, but until a contract is signed and a project accepted, that may change. I do not accept any work that promotes / portrays any of the following in a positive manner: homophobia, transphobia, misogyny, racism, hatred, or blasphemy of any religion.

**I do not accept three novel contracts with a budget less than $800. I also don't accept 4 novel contracts for less than $900. I don't believe in asking writers to provide way more than someone is willing to pay. I'm very accommodating with flexible budgets, but please respect the work we put in to create your novel. **I also prefer a minimum of 10k words per milestone, unless it's for a 10k novel, in which it's usually broken down into 5k milestones. Upwork takes a cut of each milestone payment, plus we're charged a fee for instant transfer to our bank accounts. If you can't afford at least 10k milestones for a 20k novel or a longer length, you should probably wait until you can. There are too many people on here not funding milestones but wanting you to work. That's how I got scammed when I first started on here. I am a remote worker with the flexibility to complete novels for clients in need of ghostwriters. Additionally, I am available to review and revise material as a proofreader. I am happy to provide sample work for clients to view my writing style and flow. However, due to past experiences with stolen sample work, I am cautious about making it public. Instead, I provide samples upon request or include them in proposals. Recently, a client brought to my attention that my profile may suggest I am working on multiple projects simultaneously. This is not the case. Some former clients forget to close contracts once the job is complete, while others prefer to keep them open for future hires. If you are unsure about my workload, please inquire about my availability. I am very accommodating as I believe it’s important to always try to provide the client what they are seeking when your services are requested. I do have a team that solely just makes sure that I’m not allowing my kindness to be taken for weakness or that my mental health isn’t being compromised due to problematic clients. Other than that, I conduct everything on my own. Pet Peeve 1: If you request a specific chapter outline with a maximum of three sentences per summary, please do not complain that the summary is not detailed enough or lacks key elements. It is important to follow the outlined guidelines. As a freelance ghostwriter, I am here to assist clients who want my help, but I refuse to compromise my mental health for anyone. I have had negative experiences with clients who act like tyrants and treat me as a workhorse, which is not acceptable. Moving forward, I will terminate any contracts with clients who do not treat me with kindness and respect. It is important to separate personal issues from work and to focus on the task at hand. Please be mindful of the guidelines and do not request something that you do not intend to follow. It is important to maintain a professional and respectful working environment. Pet Peeve 2: Please refrain from inquiring about the progress of a milestone on the same day it was created. Additionally, kindly avoid pestering me for updates 1 day after the milestone is established, especially if the deadline is far off. It has come to my attention that certain clients expect a speedy delivery within a week but then take several weeks to approve the milestone. Please keep in mind that unprofessional conduct is not protected by NDAs and I will take measures to caution other freelancers against your behavior. I have had unfortunate experiences with uncommunicative and impolite clients (including ones who have been very disrespectful, aggressive, and combative). Let us all strive to treat others with kindness and respect. FYI: If you want your freelancer to follow a detailed outline or chapter-by-chapter plan, make sure you read it thoroughly beforehand as well. Failing to do so can cause delays in the project and lead to miscommunication. This is something I learned from personal experience and want to pass on to clients. Another FYI: It may not be widely known among clients, but Upwork will advise freelancers not to begin a project unless a milestone has been funded. I myself have encountered a situation where I was unaware of this and ended up completing a novel of over 50,000 words. Unfortunately, the client requested the novel but did not fund the milestone, so I still have the completed work. When a milestone has been funded, a "submit work for payment" button will appear. If the milestone is not funded, this button will not be visible and we will not be able to submit the work.

Welcome. I'm Dr. Shaun Digan, founder of Startup.Ready. and creator of the Startup Readiness Framework, and author of Persuade (Wiley, 2021). Most founders who come to me need more than a business plan. They need clarity. On the problem they are solving, the market they are entering, the business model that makes it viable, and the financial reality underneath it all. A plan written without that clarity is a document. A plan written with it is a strategic asset. Over 15 years I have worked with hundreds of early-stage founders and growth-oriented businesses across every stage of planning, from pre-revenue idea validation to investor-ready materials. I hold a PhD in Entrepreneurship from the University of Louisville and an MBA from the University of Cincinnati, and I have taught Business Planning, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation at the university level. My work has helped entrepreneurs raise more than $200 million in funding, loans, and acquisitions. What makes my approach different is the diagnostic layer underneath the deliverable. Before I write a word of your plan I evaluate the strength of your foundation across six dimensions: your problem clarity, market definition, business model, go-to-market strategy, financial viability, and founder readiness. That evaluation shapes everything that follows. The result is not just a well-written document. It is a strategically sound one. I am an Expert Vetted, Top Rated Plus freelancer. Services include business plans, pitch decks, financial projections, one-pagers, and confidential information memorandums. If you want a plan that holds up under scrutiny, let's talk. Dr. Shaun P.
