I am a Ph.D. scientist with over 25 years of academic and industrial R&D experience. I specialize in four main funding areas: (1) Early-stage science and technology companies developing novel technology for dual-use (commercial market and federal acquisition); (2) Academic projects focused on basic and applied research and engineering; (3) Infrastructure projects incorporating novel technologies; and (4) Agricultural producers and related companies supporting domestic farms and the agricultural supply chain. To date, I have acquired just under $60 million in funding for my clients from private, local, state, and federal sources. I am exceptionally well-versed in federal assistance and have prepared proposal packages to NSF, NIH, NASA, DOD, DOE, EPA, USDA, NIST, NOAA, and DOT, including regular and SBIR/STTR programs. My experience extends to grants, contracts, cooperative agreements, and “other transactions”, allowing me to advise clients on the differences among these opportunities and ensuring the type of award aligns with a client's current and future goals.
I previously served as a development director for two start-ups and currently serve on the advisory boards for four start-ups, all previous clients of mine. Additionally, I have served as a Principal Investigator (PI) or co-Investigator on research projects, and have served as a federal grants reviewer for the National Science Foundation and Department of Energy. With my experience serving as research PI and the work provided for my clients, I have broad expertise in renewable energy, fuels and chemicals, remediation, environmental studies, soil science, agriculture, sustainability, materials, sensors, genetic engineering, medical devices, clinical care medicine, cancer biology, pre-clinical studies, and application of AI/ML techniques in language models, image analysis, and process technology. I provide wrap-around services including identifying funding opportunities, proposal writing and submission, and post-award management. In addition, I provide business consulting for maturing technologies, insertion into federal missions, or translating these to the marketplace by identifying customer bases and developing go-to-market strategies.
My combination of experience as a PI, Development Director, and federal grant reviewer allows me to write clear, concise, and compelling narratives aligned with funder goals. My company is registered with SAM.gov, Grants.gov, Research.gov, eRA Commons, and eXchange.gov allowing me to serve as a client's Authorized Organizational Representative for proposal submission and post-award management. I am a registered business entity and carry appropriate insurance to provide peace of mind for my clients.

JD | Army Veteran | Published Author | Grant Writer | Appellate Brief Specialist | AI & Web App Builder
When you hire me, you are not hiring a generalist. You are hiring 30+ years of real legal practice, $12 million in secured grant funding, and a published author who has been in the courtroom, at the negotiating table, and in the boardroom, and built technology to make all of it work better.
I am the founder of DocWriteReview LLC. I serve law firms, nonprofits, small businesses, and self-represented litigants who need work done right the first time.
APPELLATE BRIEF WRITING & LEGAL DOCUMENT SUPPORT
I write court-ready appellate briefs, legal research memoranda, and litigation support documents for attorneys managing overflow and for pro se litigants navigating the appellate process alone. I have worked cases others walked away from, and won. If you believe a judge got it wrong, I know how to build the argument on paper:
- Appellate briefs for civil, family, foreclosure, bankruptcy, and criminal matters
- Legal research memoranda and case analysis
- Court document preparation and review
- Pro se litigation support from filing through appeal
GRANT WRITING & NONPROFIT FUNDING STRATEGY
I have secured over $12 million in grant funding for nonprofits, community organizations, housing agencies, and faith-based institutions. I do not just write grants, I research funders, build the narrative, construct the budget, and deliver a submission-ready proposal that tells your organization's story compellingly and compliantly.
- Full-service grant writing from LOI through final report
- Federal, state, foundation, and corporate grant proposals
- Grant opportunity research and funder identification
- Grant compliance, reporting, and renewal support
AI VOICE AGENTS & CUSTOM WEB APPLICATIONS
I design and deploy AI-powered voice agents, inbound and outbound receptionist systems, and custom web applications built specifically for your organization's workflow. Every platform I build is yours permanently, no subscriptions, no vendor lock-in, no monthly fees.
- AI voice agents for inbound calls, lead qualification, and appointment scheduling
- Custom web applications for grant management, legal case tracking, and business operations
- Workflow automation connecting your tools into one seamless system
- The GFR Grant Management Platform: 19 modules, built to own
PUBLISHED AUTHOR
I am the author of multiple books including Fresh Start: A Survivor's Guide to Bankruptcy Practice and Grant Writing: The Unofficial Rulebook, which means when I tell you I know this work, there is a published body of evidence that proves it.
