4 steps to creating an AutoCAD designer job description that fits your needs 

Now it’s time for you to write your own AutoCAD designer job description. It’s important to think carefully about the role that the designer will fill and the specific type of designer you need. The more details you’re able to incorporate into your job description, the better your chance of finding a designer who’s the right fit. 

1. Determine what type of AutoCAD designer you need

Any AutoCAD designer will be well-versed in using both 2D and 3D software to create models, including objects and interior and exterior spaces. Designers can specialize in different areas. AutoCAD specialties tend to fall within three different areas:

You might also explore an arrangement that’s right in between those options, consulting with a senior AutoCAD designer for your more advanced projects while relying on a less experienced designer for some of your more simple work. The scope of your project and your available staff time will determine which option is best. 

4. Industry 

AutoCAD designers work across many industries. The construction industry heavily relies on designers, using 3D modeling to help solve construction challenges before beginning the actual work, saving money and time. Architects also use 3D modeling tools to design all of their projects, and designers can even create 3D fly-throughs of the structures during the planning stages. Packaged goods companies work with AutoCAD designers to plan components, entire products, and the packaging used to ship and display the products. 

Working in each of these industries requires understanding the unique challenges that each faces. It also requires specialized experience and skills.
