We are seeking a successful entrepreneur to join and guide our e-commerce startup. You will be in charge of the growth and marketing team, and will be an integral member of this new business and its daily operations. We will rely on your entrepreneurship experience and advice regarding marketing strategies, new products, pricing decisions, strategic partnerships, and other business ideas and growth strategies.

Responsibilities

An entrepreneur with our company will have multiple responsibilities:

Recommend appropriate small business marketing strategies and platforms, including social media and digital advertising
Work with growth team members to review and edit our business plan

4 steps to creating an entrepreneur job description that fits your needs

Now it’s time to write your own entrepreneur job description. Since entrepreneurs can fulfill so many potential roles in a company, think carefully about exactly how you want the entrepreneur to be able to help you, and what type of experience you want that entrepreneur to have. Including these details in your job description can help you to find an entrepreneur who is the right fit.

These four tips will guide you through the process of writing your job description.

1. Determine what type of entrepreneur you need

Many different types of entrepreneurs exist. Some are highly talented at marketing, while others offer strategic advice that can help you to build your business from the ground-up. It’s important to find an entrepreneur who offers those specific services that your business needs.

2. Employee vs. independent contractor vs. agency

You can hire an entrepreneur full-time in-house, or you can contract with one through an agency. You can also work with an entrepreneur who is operating as an independent contractor. Hiring an entrepreneur in-house is often a good choice if you have an ongoing, high volume of work. Contracting with an agency can be a good solution for short-term projects, but working with an independent contractor usually gives you the best flexibility. An independent contractor can be ideal for both long-term and short-term projects, particularly if you don’t have a full-time workload available.

3. Experience

You’ll want to think about the number of years of experience, as well as the type of experience that the candidate should have. If you’re planning to take your startup nationwide and eventually sell it, an entrepreneur who’s done the same may be able to give you the most value. Keep in mind that the more experienced and accomplished an entrepreneur is, the more they tend to charge. Your project scope and budget will help to determine the amount and type of experience that your job requires.

4. Industry

Entrepreneurs work in many different industries, and each industry has different nuances and requirements. An entrepreneur who is highly experienced in the e-commerce industry will bring different knowledge to your business than an entrepreneur who specializes in the service-based industry.

It’s important to choose an entrepreneur who is experienced within your industry. That entrepreneur is likely to have the specialized knowledge and skills to help make your business a success. Consider identifying which industry your business is in on your job description to help attract the best candidates.
