Hello! My name is Asmin. I’m a researcher from Turkey currently living in Spain, pursuing my doctoral degree at the University of Málaga. I have nearly six years of experience as a content writer and four years of academic research experience. Here’s how I can support you: ✅ Content Writing (English, Spanish, Turkish): With a background as a social media content producer, I’ve created content on a wide range of topics, with a strong focus on NGOs and social issues. ✅ Qualitative & Quantitative Research: Drawing on my academic work, including my master’s research on gender biases in AI models, I have extensive experience conducting structured and semi-structured interviews and supporting qualitative research processes. Alongside this, I have developed strong quantitative research skills working with NGOs in Turkey, including survey design, and analysis to produce indicators, cross-group comparisons, and visual summaries that support evidence-based reporting and decision-making. ✅ Podcast Production: With seven years of media experience, I also work part-time as a podcaster, co-producing a weekly news program. You can explore my portfolio to see examples of my previous work!

I’m a freelance researcher focused on market, competitor, product, and industry analysis. What I enjoy most is taking complex information and turning it into practical insights that support smarter business decisions. My approach is structured but flexible, I adapt it depending on the project. Sometimes that means digging into consumer conversations to uncover pain points and feedback; other times it’s tracking search trends and behaviors to spot new opportunities, or validating findings with academic research and credible data. Here’s what my work usually covers: - Consumer insight: analyzing online discussions and reviews to understand real questions, needs, and frustrations - Trend discovery: identifying shifts in demand, audience behavior, and emerging topics across markets - Competitor & product benchmarking: comparing offers, positioning, and strategies to highlight opportunities and risks - Evidence-based validation: making sure insights are backed by solid data, research, or trusted sources - Qualitative analysis: pulling themes and patterns from interviews, surveys, or transcripts Clear deliverables: structured reports or slide decks, adapted to the client’s preferences 📌 If you’re looking for research that’s clear, structured, and directly useful for decision-making, I’d be glad to help.

Born and raised in Bournemouth in the south of the UK, I was trained in archeology and anthropology at Cambridge University (BA, 2000), where I was one of only two students in my cohort to be awarded a distinction (starred first). After graduating, I spent two years working as a Java developer in Bristol, an experience that cemented a lifelong interest in programming and data. In 2003, I moved to Ulaanbator in the Republic of Mongolia to study the Mongolian language. During this period I won a competition for funding for a PhD on religious movements in Inner Mongolia in northern China. I completed the PhD at Cambridge University in 2007, and on the strength of the thesis I was awarded a postdoctoral fellowship at St John’s College to extend the study. Between 2007 and 2020, I won funding for, and completed, another postdoc and was lecturer and then senior lecturer for the universities of Cambridge, Manchester and Kent, covering Anthropology (including economic and political theory), social science research methods, and religious studies. At Manchester and Kent I held permanent positions (the nearest equivalent to being tenured in the US). I started a consulting business with my wife in 2010, and in 2020 when the pandemic hit, I decided to dedicate myself to it full time. The business originally provided academically grounded market research and communication support for businesses working with China. In 2022, we rebranded in recognition of the fact that our area had been extended beyond China to the rest of the world. We are now based in the province of Seville in the south of Spain, and I split my time between academic and commercial activities. I maintain a visiting position at Complutense University, Madrid, mentor some of my former students, and continue to publish. I have carried out ethnographic field research in Inner Mongolia (China), Taiwan, the UK, France, Belgium and Ecuador. I have published in a wide range of top peer-reviewed journals and with leading academic presses. You can see a list of most of my publications on Google Scholar. My work focuses on virtue ethics, self-realisation, self-mastery especially in the context of religious and political movements.

I’m an experienced social research consultant with over 20 years of experience designing studies, analysing data, and translating complex findings into clear, actionable insights. I work with universities, healthcare researchers, nonprofits, and public sector organisations to analyse survey data, conduct qualitative research, and support applied research projects. My work often involves large survey datasets, statistical analysis, thematic analysis of interviews and open-ended responses, and mixed-methods research integrating both quantitative and qualitative findings. I help clients turn raw data into meaningful findings that support research, publication, decision-making, policy, and program development. Areas I commonly support include: • Survey research and data analysis: cleaning datasets, statistical analysis, cross-tabulation, interpretation, and reporting • Survey design and questionnaire review: improving question clarity, structure, and measurement validity • Qualitative research and thematic analysis: coding interviews, focus groups, and open-ended survey responses • Mixed-methods research: integrating quantitative and qualitative findings to provide deeper insight • Research reporting: presenting findings clearly for academic, healthcare, nonprofit, and public sector audiences I have supported research projects for government agencies, universities, healthcare researchers, and nonprofit organisations in Canada and the UK, including public consultation studies, healthcare research, employee surveys, and qualitative evaluations. I have also contributed to peer-reviewed research publications. Clients typically work with me when they need: • rigorous analysis of survey or qualitative data • clear interpretation of complex findings • support with mixed-methods and applied research projects • well-structured reports and research summaries If you have a survey, dataset, qualitative research project, or mixed-methods study that needs careful analysis and clear reporting, I’d be happy to discuss how I can help.
