## Fit und Club Konzentrat, From an Unfamiliar Fitness Concept to a More Credible, Protected Brand INDUSTRY: Fitness & Wellness LOCATION: Germany MY ROLE: Web Design | Market Research | Competitive Analysis | Audience Analysis | Brand Positioning | Conversion Strategy | Digital Strategy ### The Challenge I discovered Fit und Club Konzentrat without any prior relationship or inside information about the business. What immediately stood out was the company's distinctive **Techno Cardio** workout concept. However, my initial analysis revealed a positioning problem. The concept was unique, but the way the business was presented made it easy for potential customers to compare it with conventional fitness and cardio businesses. That created an important question: **Why would someone trust an unfamiliar fitness concept enough to pay for a premium service?** For a wellness business, this is particularly important. Customers are not simply purchasing a workout. They are trusting the business with an experience connected to their health, wellbeing, money, and expectations. ### My Approach Rather than beginning with a generic marketing campaign, I investigated the underlying barriers to customer trust. My analysis examined: * Competitor positioning * Market perception * Audience expectations * Customer concerns * Brand credibility * Website presentation * Differentiation * Conversion barriers * Digital brand protection The key finding was clear: **The business had something distinctive, but its uniqueness was not being supported by enough credibility and trust signals.** ### Strategy I developed the project around four priorities: **1. Brand Protection** I identified opportunities to strengthen ownership and protection of the company's digital brand identity, including its website and visual assets, through the appropriate registration processes. **2. Professional Credibility** I helped strengthen the business's professional presentation and supported the relevant documentation and registration processes. **3. Customer Trust** The website and brand presentation were improved to give potential customers stronger reasons to feel confident about engaging with the business. **4. Market Differentiation** Rather than positioning Techno Cardio as simply another cardio or fitness service, the strategy focused on communicating what made the concept different. The desired customer journey became: **“What is this?” → “Can I trust it?” → “This looks legitimate.” → “I'm willing to try it.”** ### Implementation The initial implementation was completed in approximately **10 days**. The work included a significant website and brand presentation overhaul, together with work around the business's digital identity and relevant registration processes. The objective was not simply to make the website look better. It was to make the entire presentation more credible and commercially ready. ### Reported Results Following implementation, the business reported improvements including: * Approximately **34 customers per week** * Improved customer response * Stronger professional positioning * Increased customer confidence * Improved presentation of the workout offering * Stronger protection of the digital brand identity * A reported commercial return of approximately **5K per month** The project also resulted in a **5-star client review**. ### The Key Insight The most important lesson from this project was that the problem was not simply: **“How do we market this?”** It was: **“Why might a customer hesitate to trust this?”** The business already had a distinctive concept. My job was to identify the factors preventing customers from immediately recognizing and trusting that value, then build the website and strategy around those barriers. That shift changed the project from simply redesigning a website into solving a **trust, positioning, and conversion problem**. ### What I Bring to a Project I don't approach websites as isolated design projects. I look at the relationship between: **Website → Brand → Trust → Positioning → Customer Decision → Conversion** My role in this project covered: **Web Design | Market Research | Audience Analysis | Competitive Analysis | Brand Strategy | Brand Positioning | Brand Protection | Customer Trust | Conversion Strategy | Digital Strategy | Marketing Analytics**

🔸 Expert-Vetted | Top 1% on Upwork 🔸 Published in Vogue, Elle, WWD, Teen Vogue 🔸 Adobe Featured | Hand-picked among the best in their field 🔸 Upwork Skill Certified in Brand Identity I don’t do branding. I do propaganda. Most founders come to me at one of two moments: right before launch, when everything is riding on first impressions, or after realizing the brand they built in year one is holding them back in year three. Either way, the problem is the same. A logo isn't a brand. A name isn't a strategy. And a business without a cohesive brand identity doesn't just look unfinished, it leaves money, credibility, and opportunity on the table. I'm Axel, a brand identity designer and naming expert with 20+ years of experience building brands that transform a founder's vision into lasting market value. I specialize in strategy-based brand identity for ambitious startups and scaling companies with their sights set on the top tier of their market, across lifestyle, hospitality, fashion, beauty, finance, food & beverage, health & wellness, and tech. ◼️ What working with me looks like: Before we make any creative decisions, we align on strategy. Who you are, who you're for, and what makes you impossible to ignore. Then we build: naming, verbal identity, visual identity, brand guidelines, everything your team needs to show up consistently, whether that's on packaging, a pitch deck, or a homepage. Founders who work with me walk away with a brand system built to grow with the business, one that commands the attention, credibility, and investment their work deserves. ◼️ Built for founders who are serious: My background includes brand identity work for Airbnb, PepsiCo, Ralph Lauren, Martha Stewart, Elizabeth Arden, and Sur La Table, in addition to the startups and early-stage brands I'm most energized by on Upwork. If you're launching, fundraising, rebranding, or scaling, your brand is either building your business or costing it. Let's make sure it's doing the former. Send me a message to start the conversation. ◼️ WHAT I BUILD ▪️ Brand Naming & Naming Strategy ▪️ Brand Strategy & Positioning ▪️ Visual Identity & Logo Design ▪️ Verbal Identity & Brand Voice ▪️ Brand Identity Design & Systems ▪️ Rebranding & Brand Identity Refresh ▪️ Web Design ▪️ Creative Direction ◼️ HOW WE WORK TOGETHER ▪️ Every project starts with strategy. If you want someone to execute a brief, I may not be the right fit. If you want someone to help you think through what your brand should stand for and then bring it to life, we should talk. ▪️ I work on fixed-rate contracts for most brand projects. My hourly rate applies to consulting and advisory engagements. ▪️ A free 15-minute discovery call is recommended. This ensures we're the right fit before either of us commits. ▪️ I don't offer unlimited revisions. I follow a proven methodology designed to get it right. ▪️ The best outcomes come from founders who trust the process and bring their vision openly. The brand becomes yours, we build it together.

What does a service designer do?

A service designer maps and shapes the complete experience of a service, connecting digital interfaces with physical interactions to help users reach their goals. This role looks beyond single screens or touchpoints to orchestrate how people move through every stage of a process. You align user needs with organizational policy by designing coherent journeys that work across online platforms and offline channels. Your work turns complex requirements into clear, accessible paths that remove friction for both customers and staff.

  • Map end-to-end user journeys using customer journey maps and service blueprints to visualize how people interact with a service across different channels. These artifacts reveal pain points and opportunities by showing the relationship between user actions, front-stage interactions, and back-stage processes. You use these models to identify where digital tools must connect with physical steps to create a seamless flow.
  • Facilitate design sessions with stakeholders, researchers, and users to co-create solutions based on evidence rather than assumptions. You plan and run workshops that bring together diverse perspectives to define service transactions, products, and content. During these sessions, you guide participants through iterative design cycles, using mockups or drafts to test hypotheses and refine concepts before development begins.
  • Design inclusive and accessible service components that meet relevant standards and guidance for all users. You translate research findings into concrete design decisions that ensure services work for people with varying abilities and contexts. This involves creating clear content, intuitive navigation, and robust interaction patterns that comply with accessibility requirements while supporting organizational policy intent.

How to hire a service designer on Upwork

Step 1: Post a job

Define the end-to-end user journey and offline touchpoints you need mapped. The Job Post Generator powered by Uma™, Upwork's Mindful AI drafts a post from your brief description of these needs. You can write a new post, update a saved draft, or reuse an existing post to start.

  • Specify requirements for creating service blueprints and customer journey maps that connect digital interfaces with physical interactions.
  • List the specific evidence-based research methods the freelancer must use to validate design hypotheses and refine concepts.
  • Clarify if the role involves facilitating design sessions with stakeholders to align on policy intent and user goals.

Step 2: Evaluate candidates

Look for portfolios that show inclusive service models and accessible content designs. Uma runs instant video interviews and builds shortlists with side-by-side comparisons to help you assess these visual artifacts quickly.

  • Check for documented examples of how the designer interpreted web analytics or user research to change a service transaction.
  • Verify experience in designing across multiple channels, ensuring the journey remains consistent from online forms to offline support.
  • Review mockups or drafts that demonstrate how the candidate tests design fidelity before full implementation.

Step 3: Interview your top choices

Discuss how they plan iterative design rounds using agile methods. Schedule and conduct these interviews within Upwork Messages, which generates an immediate transcript and summary after each session.

  • Ask how they collaborate with researchers to explain evidence and draw actionable insights for service improvements.
  • Request examples of how they resolved unresolved issues or risks when communicating design decisions to technical teams.
  • Explore their approach to meeting accessibility standards while maintaining organizational policy intent in complex services.

Step 4: Agree on scope and begin work

Set clear milestones for delivering service models and journey maps. Use Upwork Messages and the contract workroom for communication and project management, plus identity verification, payment protection, hourly tracking, and project funds for security.

  • Define the exact format for submitting service blueprints and documentation of design decisions at each milestone.
  • Agree on the frequency of design sessions and the specific stakeholders who must attend to approve concepts.
  • Establish criteria for accepting inclusive service content designs based on relevant guidance and user testing outcomes.

Is hiring a service designer worth it?

Review their service blueprints and customer journey maps to see how they visualize end-to-end experiences. A strong candidate explains how they used research evidence to resolve conflicts between user needs and business constraints in a specific project.

What deliverables does a service designer create?

A service designer produces service blueprints, customer journey maps, and low-fidelity mockups to test design hypotheses. They also document design decisions and outline risks for stakeholders to review during planning sessions.

How does a service designer collaborate with other teams?

They facilitate design sessions with researchers, analysts, and stakeholders to align on user needs. This collaborative approach helps translate evidence from web analytics into actionable design concepts for agile development cycles.
