Seeking a mechanical engineer or 3D designer to create a production-ready CAD model for a custom appliance attachment that mounts to a rotating drive shaft. The final design will be used for CNC routing and must include a precise internal female bayonet slot for a 0.5-inch pin shaft. You will transform 2D sketches and dimensions into a 3D model, optimize geometry for torque, bending stress, and shear forces, and apply DFM principles to reduce stress points for plastic manufacturing. Deliverables include native editable CAD files and exported manufacturing files. A signed NDA is required before full project details are shared.

I am a product developer seeking an experienced Mechanical CAD Engineer / Product Design Engineer to review and complete the existing CAD files for a patented consumer product called Lock-It. The product has already been designed, and CAD files have been created. I am not looking to redesign the product from scratch. I am currently communicating with manufacturers and have been asked to provide additional manufacturing documentation, including 2D technical drawings in PDF format and step-by-step assembly instructions with images. I am looking for someone who can review my existing CAD files, identify anything that is missing or needs correction, and prepare a professional manufacturer-ready engineering package that can be submitted for quotation and eventual production. Scope of Work The selected engineer should be able to assist with: ● Review of my existing CAD/STEP files for completeness and manufacturability ● Correcting or updating existing CAD files where necessary ● Preparing manufacturer-ready STEP files for the individual components ● Creating professional 2D dimensioned technical drawings in PDF format ● Adding appropriate dimensions, tolerances, materials, finishes, and manufacturing notes ● Creating an exploded assembly drawing ● Preparing or reviewing the Bill of Materials (BOM) ● Creating step-by-step assembly instructions with images/illustrations ● Reviewing the design from a DFM (Design for Manufacturing) perspective ● Identifying any potential manufacturing issues before the files are submitted for production ● Preparing an organized final engineering package that I can provide to Xometry and other manufacturers for accurate quotations The product consists of a small molded plastic enclosure measuring approximately 2" L × 1.5" W × 0.5" T, a plastic-coated braided-steel cable approximately 20 inches in length, and a locking mechanism. Final dimensions, component specifications, and other technical details should be verified against the existing CAD files. Ideal Candidate I am specifically looking for someone with experience in: ● Mechanical engineering or mechanical CAD design ● Consumer product development ● Injection-molded plastic parts ● DFM / Design for Manufacturing ● 2D manufacturing drawings ● GD&T and tolerancing where appropriate ● Assembly drawings and assembly documentation ● Preparing CAD packages for manufacturers Experience working with Xometry, Protolabs, injection molding companies, or contract manufacturers would be a plus. Important I already have existing CAD files and product renderings. This project is primarily about reviewing, correcting, documenting, and preparing the existing design for manufacturing, rather than creating an entirely new product. Because this is a patented product moving toward commercialization, confidentiality and professional handling of the design files are important. When applying, please provide: 1. Examples of similar consumer or mechanical products you have prepared for manufacturing. 2. Examples of your 2D technical/manufacturing drawings. 3. Your experience with injection-molded plastic products and DFM. 4. Whether you can create assembly drawings and step-by-step assembly instructions. 5. Your estimated cost and turnaround time after reviewing the existing files. 6. Whether you would be comfortable reviewing the existing files first and identifying exactly what is needed before beginning the full project. My goal is to establish a relationship with a reliable CAD/mechanical engineer who may also be available for future manufacturing revisions as the Lock-It product moves toward production. Thank you, and I look forward to reviewing your qualifications.

Our forte is custom doors, radius millwork, windows, cabinets, kitchens, closets, built ins, etc. We have astrong client base that is growing. Shop drawings, cutlists, and 3d renderings for Mozaik Multi Print to PDF for client, architect, contractor approvals. While they are not complex projects, they are piling up and we are backlogged. I'm guessing based on your skillset, that we could use/ need maybe 8-10 hours a week commitment on average if you have the availability. We could easily file share via DropBox to collaborate as I have Mozaik set up on my work desktop and my laptop as an additional seat. However , whatever works based on your expertise would be greatly appreciated if this of interest to you. Thank you for your consideration.
