SEO Specialist — Part-Time, Ongoing WordPress, Shopify, Technical SEO & AI Search/GEO | ~20 hours per week Lockhern Digital is a fully remote Search Everywhere Agency. We help brands become more visible wherever their customers are searching, from traditional Google results to AI Overviews and LLM-generated answers. We’re a passionate, fast-moving team that cares deeply about doing excellent work. We provide clear briefs, document decisions carefully, and give people the space and trust to take ownership of their work. We move quickly, but we don’t cut corners. We’re looking for a thoughtful, detail-oriented SEO Specialist who enjoys turning strategy into real, high-quality improvements on client websites. This is a hands-on implementation role. You won’t just make recommendations or send audits into the void, you’ll help write, optimize, build, QA, document, and, when appropriate, deploy the work. What you’ll work on You’ll receive organized briefs and tasks through ClickUp and take ownership of work such as: On-page SEO Write and optimize meta titles and descriptions Improve H1s, H2s, H3s, and overall heading structure Add useful, descriptive image alt text Strengthen internal linking and page relevance Technical SEO Implement and validate JSON-LD schema, including FAQPage, BlogPosting, LocalBusiness, Product, and other structured data Set up and QA 301 redirects Correct canonical and noindex issues Identify and improve thin, duplicate, or unnecessary template pages Help keep XML sitemaps and robots.txt files clean and accurate Local and location SEO Build and optimize city, service-area, and topical hub pages Create useful, genuinely unique hyperlocal content Develop logical internal-linking structures across location pages Content and conversion optimization Draft and rewrite blog posts and on-page copy Turn client newsletters, notes, or source material into search-friendly content Improve calls to action and page copy with both conversions and search intent in mind Apply E-E-A-T principles while keeping the writing natural and genuinely helpful WordPress and Shopify execution Make changes directly in WordPress Update Shopify collections, products, metadata, and page content Handle light theme or template adjustments when needed AI Search and GEO Structure pages and supporting data to improve their chances of appearing in AI Overviews and LLM-generated answers Help us monitor and report on AI/LLM visibility Explore practical ways to make client content easier for both search engines and AI systems to understand and cite Data preparation and quality assurance Build and maintain spreadsheets for bulk metadata, H1, content, and schema projects Review AI-assisted content carefully for accuracy, clarity, tone, and usefulness Document completed changes in shared Google Docs and Sheets QA your work before anything is considered ready to deploy Success in this role means delivering accurate, thoughtful work on time, with clear documentation and minimal back-and-forth. We care about speed, but we care even more about getting the details right. You may be a great fit if you have At least two years of hands-on experience with on-page and technical SEO Confidence working in WordPress with RankMath and/or Yoast Experience implementing SEO changes in Shopify A solid understanding of structured data and JSON-LD schema Working knowledge of Google Search Console and GA4 Strong SEO writing skills, especially for metadata, headings, landing pages, and blog content Comfort using Google Sheets or Excel for bulk content and QA work Experience using tools such as ChatGPT or Claude, and the judgment to fact-check, edit, and improve their output A genuine interest in AI Search, Generative Engine Optimization, AI Overviews, and LLM visibility Experience with Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, and Looker Studio is a plus. Other helpful skills include basic HTML/CSS, WP All Import, Shopify Liquid, Google Business Profile, and local SEO, but you don’t need to check every box to apply. Above all, we’re looking for someone who is careful, curious, dependable, and proud of their work. Small mistakes on live client sites matter, so attention to detail is important, but so is knowing when to ask a question rather than make an uncertain guess. We would rather be asked 1000 times and get it right than not be asked and get it wrong. Communication and collaboration Clear communication matters just as much as technical ability. You’ll be expected to: Write clear, professional English Keep task statuses current in ClickUp Leave useful comments and document what you changed Flag questions or blockers early rather than going quiet Join occasional video calls Record and watch Loom walkthroughs when helpful Be responsive during our agreed overlap window with US business hours Work independently outside that window We’re async-first, so we don’t expect you to be online all day. We do expect reliable updates, thoughtful questions, and consistent follow-through. What it’s like to work with us We’re fully remote and distributed, with a few hours of overlap with US business hours for collaboration. Most work is organized into monthly task batches with clear start dates, due dates, and supporting briefs. We document as we go so multiple people can contribute safely without overwriting work or making risky live-site changes. We QA everything, especially AI-assisted content. We also avoid deploying client-site changes on Fridays; Mondays are usually our preferred deployment day. You’ll receive clear direction, practical feedback, and room to do your work well. We value people who take ownership, communicate kindly, and care about the client experience, not just checking off tasks. Role details Part-time: Approximately 20 hours per week Contract: Ongoing, with room to grow as the agency grows Location: Fully remote Schedule: Flexible, with some agreed overlap with US business hours Trial: We’ll begin with a small paid task so both sides can decide whether the working relationship feels like a strong fit How to apply Please start your proposal with the words “AI Overview” so we know you read the full post. Then tell us briefly about: Your relevant SEO experience One or two examples of on-page, technical, local, or content SEO work you’re proud of The platforms and tools you’re strongest in, such as WordPress, RankMath, Shopify, schema, GSC, GA4, Ahrefs, or Screaming Frog Your experience with, or perspective on, AI Search, GEO, AI Overviews, and LLM visibility Links to a portfolio, work samples, or relevant case studies are welcome. Please don’t worry about writing a long proposal; a thoughtful, specific response is much more helpful than a generic one. We read every application and respond quickly to candidates who seem like a strong fit. We’re looking forward to learning more about you and the work you enjoy doing.

# Senior Technical SEO & B2B SEO Specialist — Implementation & Ongoing Strategy ## About Us We are an established language services and localization company serving **government agencies, healthcare systems, courts, municipalities, educational institutions, and enterprise clients nationwide**. Our services include: * Written translation and localization * On-site interpretation * Over-the-phone interpretation (OPI) * Video remote interpretation (VRI) * ASL interpretation * Healthcare and legal language access * Multimedia localization * Subtitling and captioning * Website localization * Multilingual desktop publishing * Accessibility and document remediation services Our business is primarily **B2B and B2G**, with high-value clients, long sales cycles, and relationship- and procurement-driven buying processes. We are not an e-commerce company, and we are not interested in generating traffic simply for the sake of traffic. Our SEO objective is to increase **qualified organic visibility, authority, and lead generation among organizations actively seeking professional language, localization, interpretation, and accessibility services.** ## What We Are Looking For We are seeking an experienced **technical SEO/B2B SEO specialist or small senior-level team** to take ownership of the next phase of our SEO program. **We already have a comprehensive SEO and technical website audit.** Therefore, this engagement is **not primarily for another audit**. We need someone who can review the existing findings, independently validate them where necessary, establish priorities, and — most importantly — **execute the work.** We recently ended a long-term SEO engagement after discovering that significant technical and strategic issues had gone unidentified or unresolved for an extended period. As a result, we are placing a premium on **technical competence, transparency, accountability, and demonstrated execution.** ## Immediate Priorities The initial engagement will focus on reviewing our existing audit and developing an actionable implementation plan based on **impact, urgency, level of effort, and business value**. Known areas requiring attention include: * Duplicate and/or poorly optimized title tags and meta descriptions * Schema implementation and structured data * Crawlability and indexation strategy * Core Web Vitals and site performance * Large/unoptimized images and other page-speed issues * Internal linking and site architecture * Service-page optimization * Keyword cannibalization and content overlap where applicable * Alignment of existing content with actual buyer search intent * Conversion paths and calls to action * Technical WordPress optimization * Cloudflare/CDN configuration as it relates to SEO and performance * Evaluation of whether our current hosting environment should be retained or migrated We are currently on **WordPress, Cloudflare, and DigitalOcean**. A migration to a managed WordPress hosting environment may be considered if there is a compelling technical/business case. Google Search Console and GA4 data are available. ## Phase 1 — Technical SEO Implementation & Recovery We expect the selected specialist to: * Review our completed audit and validate the highest-priority findings * Create a clearly prioritized implementation roadmap * Identify immediate/high-impact fixes versus longer-term improvements * Implement technical SEO corrections directly where appropriate * Correct indexation, metadata, canonical, sitemap, and crawl issues as needed * Improve schema/structured data implementation * Address Core Web Vitals and WordPress performance issues * Optimize images and other performance bottlenecks * Improve site architecture and internal linking * Review and optimize priority service pages * Identify content consolidation, expansion, or removal opportunities * Improve conversion paths from organic landing pages * Verify implementation through crawling, GSC, PageSpeed/Lighthouse, or other appropriate tools * Document completed changes and their impact We do **not** want a consultant who simply identifies issues and hands implementation to us. Hands-on execution capability is important. ## Phase 2 — B2B/B2G SEO Growth Once the technical foundation is corrected, we want to build a long-term SEO strategy around the audiences that actually purchase our services. Our buyers commonly include: * Government procurement and contracting personnel * Healthcare systems and language access departments * Legal organizations and court systems * State and local government agencies * Universities and educational institutions * Supplier diversity/procurement teams * Enterprise operations, communications, HR, and compliance teams We are particularly interested in someone who understands that SEO for these audiences differs substantially from high-volume consumer SEO. Long-term work may include: * B2B/B2G keyword strategy and mapping * Optimization and expansion of high-value service pages * Industry/vertical landing-page strategy * Geographic/local and national SEO strategy * Content gap analysis * Content briefs and strategic content oversight * Internal linking * Technical SEO maintenance * Search Console monitoring * Competitor/search landscape analysis * Conversion rate optimization * Authority-building strategies * Measurement and reporting tied to qualified inquiries and business outcomes We have an existing content library. We are **not** looking to generate large quantities of generic blog content simply to satisfy a publishing calendar. ## What We Are NOT Looking For Please do not apply if your primary strategy consists of: * Publishing large volumes of generic or AI-generated blog content * Mass backlink packages * Low-quality directory/link-building campaigns * Reporting primarily on impressions and traffic without connecting results to business objectives * Producing another audit without the ability to implement recommendations * Applying the same SEO playbook used for e-commerce or consumer businesses * Outsourcing most of the engagement to junior/offshore resources without transparency or senior oversight We are open to appropriate use of AI and automation as tools. We are **not** interested in replacing subject-matter expertise, strategy, or quality control with automated content production. ## What We ARE Looking For The right person/team will demonstrate: * Strong technical SEO expertise * Hands-on WordPress experience * Experience diagnosing and improving Core Web Vitals * Strong understanding of crawling, indexation, canonicalization, schema, and site architecture * B2B and service-business SEO experience * Ability to translate SEO recommendations into actual implementation * Understanding of conversion optimization * Strategic thinking beyond keyword rankings * Clear prioritization based on business impact * Excellent written communication * Transparent reporting * Accountability for implementation and results Experience with **government/B2G, healthcare, legal, accessibility, localization, or professional services SEO** is especially valuable. Additional experience with **Cloudflare, DigitalOcean, Kinsta, WP Engine, WordPress migrations, accessibility/ADA considerations, and multilingual SEO** is a plus. ## How We Measure Success We are not interested in vanity metrics alone. Traffic and rankings matter, but ultimately we care about: * Increased visibility for commercially relevant searches * Improved rankings for high-intent service terms * Growth in qualified organic leads * Increased visibility among our target industries and buyers * Improved conversion performance on priority landing pages * Stronger technical site health * Improved Core Web Vitals/performance * Appropriate indexation and crawl efficiency * Sustainable organic growth over time ## To Apply Please address the following **specifically** in your proposal: 1. Provide 2–3 examples of B2B, professional-service, or other high-consideration SEO engagements you personally worked on. What did you change and what was the result? 2. Describe a technical SEO problem you discovered and **personally implemented the solution for**. What was the issue, what did you change, and how did you verify that it was resolved? 3. If you inherit a completed technical SEO audit containing dozens of recommendations, how do you determine what gets implemented first? 4. What portions of technical SEO/WordPress implementation do you personally perform, and what portions, if any, do you outsource? 5. What is your experience with WordPress performance optimization and Core Web Vitals? 6. How do you measure SEO success for a B2B company with a long sales cycle and relatively low lead volume but high-value clients? 7. Describe any experience you have with **government/B2G, healthcare, legal, language services/localization, accessibility, or other complex professional-service industries.** 8. What SEO tools do you regularly use for technical analysis, implementation verification, keyword research, and ongoing monitoring? 9. Are you comfortable working from an **existing audit rather than beginning the engagement by selling us another full SEO audit?** 10. Who would actually perform the work on our account? 11. How has AI-driven search changed the way you approach SEO for B2B/service companies, and what, if anything, are you doing differently today than you were two years ago? **Please do not submit a generic agency proposal.** We are specifically looking for thoughtful responses to the questions above. For the right person or team, this can develop into a **long-term SEO and website optimization engagement.**

Screening Questions What are the first five areas you would review on an established Shopify e-commerce website? How do you measure whether SEO is generating additional orders and revenue? How would you identify pages with strong impressions but low organic click-through rates? What technical SEO issues do you commonly find on Shopify websites? ABOUT NORTHMARK SIGN NorthMark Sign is an established architectural signage company created through the consolidation and rebranding of Bailey Sign and Welch Sign. NorthMarkSign.com is already live on WordPress and WP Engine. BaileySign.com and WelchSign.com have already been transitioned, and 301 redirects are already in place. We are not looking to rebuild the migration, create new pages, expand the website’s content, or begin an ongoing monthly SEO program. We need an experienced technical SEO and WordPress implementation specialist to complete the highest-priority corrections on the existing website. FIXED PRICE Total fixed price: $1,500 This is a tightly defined first phase. Payment will be based on implementation and proof of completion, not on delivery of a general audit. The selected contractor may be considered for later phases involving analytics, accessibility, local SEO, Google Business Profiles, citations, and additional technical work. Those items are not included in this phase. PRIMARY OBJECTIVE Correct the highest-impact problems already present on the website by: 1. Cleaning up NorthMark’s search-facing titles, metadata, and branding. 2. Repairing crawlability and navigation problems involving the News, Portfolio, homepage, and other important existing pages. 3. Completing the titles, images, navigation, formatting, and technical SEO of the three existing buying guides. 4. Performing a limited quality-control review of the existing Bailey and Welch redirects, canonicals, sitemap, and indexing settings. This is an implementation project. We do not want an audit that leaves NorthMark responsible for making the corrections. SCOPE OF WORK 1. BASELINE CRAWL AND LIMITED MIGRATION VALIDATION The contractor will: • Crawl all publicly accessible and indexable HTML pages on NorthMarkSign.com. • Identify internal broken links, redirecting internal links, canonical conflicts, accidental noindex settings, sitemap problems, and important crawlability issues. • Verify that the HTTP, HTTPS, www, and non-www versions resolve consistently to the approved NorthMark domain. • Test up to 40 priority BaileySign.com and WelchSign.com legacy URLs. • Confirm that the tested legacy URLs use permanent, one-hop redirects to an appropriate existing NorthMark page. • Correct redirect loops, chains, 404 destinations, malformed redirects, or clearly incorrect destinations found within the tested group. • Verify that the NorthMark XML sitemap contains canonical, indexable URLs returning a 200 status. • Verify the relevant Google Search Console property and current sitemap submission. This is a limited validation and correction assignment. A complete rebuild of every historic Bailey and Welch redirect is not included unless separately approved. 2. NORTHMARK BRANDING, TITLES, AND SEARCH APPEARANCE The contractor will correct global template settings and up to 30 priority URLs approved by NorthMark. The priority URL list will include the homepage, News, Portfolio, major navigation pages, the three buying guides, transition pages, and other important existing pages. Review and correct, where applicable: • SEO title tags • Meta descriptions • Page H1 headings • Open Graph titles and descriptions • Social-sharing titles and images • Canonical tags • Relevant structured-data fields • Navigation labels • NorthMark capitalization • Obvious spelling errors • Visible placeholder text • Unintended references to Bailey Sign or Welch Sign Approved historical references on the About page and approved Bailey/Welch transition pages may remain. The contractor must not automatically remove legitimate historical references. No substantial rewriting or expansion of page content is required. 3. NEWS, PORTFOLIO, AND INTERNAL NAVIGATION REPAIR The contractor will verify and correct the crawlability and functionality of the existing News and Portfolio sections. Requirements include: • Every visible News, article, buying-guide, and project card must contain a direct, crawlable HTML link to its canonical page. • Links should not depend exclusively on JavaScript, filtering, hovering, or user interaction to become discoverable. • News and Portfolio archive content must be discoverable in a standard crawl beginning at the homepage. • Existing category buttons, filters, search functions, and pagination or load-more behavior must be tested. • Homepage cards, service cards, industry cards, project cards, calls to action, desktop navigation, mobile navigation, and footer navigation must be tested. • Links that unintentionally open JPG files, media-attachment pages, broken pages, redirected URLs, or noncanonical URLs must be corrected. • Important internal links should lead directly to a canonical URL returning a 200 status. • Any visible card that is not intended to be clickable must not appear or behave as though it is a broken link. No new industry, service, geographic, project, or archive pages are required. When an existing item has no appropriate destination, NorthMark and the contractor will agree whether to: • Link it to an appropriate existing page; • Link it to an approved section of an existing page; or • Remove the link behavior. 4. COMPLETE THE THREE EXISTING BUYING GUIDES This phase includes the following existing guides: • Monument Signs Buying Guide • Electronic Message Centers Buying Guide • Channel Letters and Exterior Lettering Buying Guide The contractor will finish and standardize these existing pages without substantially expanding or rewriting their content. BUYING GUIDE TITLES AND METADATA For each guide, correct and standardize: • On-page title • H1 heading • SEO title • Meta description • URL display and canonical • News archive title • Buying Guides category assignment • Breadcrumb title • Open Graph title and description • Social-sharing image • Article or BlogPosting structured data • Published and last-updated information where appropriate BUYING GUIDE IMAGES Using NorthMark’s existing image library, the contractor will: • Select or confirm an appropriate hero image for each guide. • Replace temporary, duplicated, unrelated, poorly cropped, or incorrectly sized images. • Confirm that images display correctly on desktop, tablet, and mobile. • Add accurate, natural alt text. • Set appropriate image dimensions. • Compress oversized images without visibly reducing quality. • Configure the correct social-sharing image. • Prevent images from being unnecessarily distorted or stretched. • Avoid serving an image at dimensions substantially larger than its displayed size. NorthMark will approve the primary hero image selected for each guide. New photography, custom illustration, and substantial graphic design are not included. BUYING GUIDE NAVIGATION For each guide, the contractor will: • Create or correct the table of contents. • Make every table-of-contents link move to the correct section. • Correct heading anchor IDs. • Correct all “back to top” links. • Add working links between the three buying guides. • Replace literal instructions such as “link to blog” or “link to channel letter guide” with the actual working links. • Add appropriate links to existing NorthMark service or project pages where the guide already references those topics. • Confirm that every internal link leads directly to a canonical URL returning a 200 status. • Provide a clear route back to the News or Buying Guides archive. • Confirm that all three guides appear correctly in the existing Buying Guides navigation or filter. BUYING GUIDE QUALITY CONTROL The contractor will correct: • Duplicate introductions • Repeated paragraphs or content blocks • Empty headings • Visible editorial instructions • Placeholder copy • Broken links • Duplicate anchor IDs • Obvious spelling and punctuation errors • Inconsistent NorthMark capitalization • Unapproved Bailey or Welch references • Clearly inconsistent heading levels • Formatting problems affecting readability This does not include a substantive rewrite, new research, new sections, or major content expansion. 5. TECHNICAL QA AND PROOF OF COMPLETION All substantial changes must first be completed in staging where practical. Before production deployment, the contractor must: • Create or confirm a current backup. • Maintain a detailed change log. • Obtain approval before changing any URL or slug. • Obtain approval before installing any new plugin. • Avoid changing the existing caching or performance configuration without approval. NorthMark currently has excellent Lighthouse performance. The contractor must preserve that performance and must not activate NitroPack or add another speed-optimization system without demonstrating a specific need and receiving written approval. REQUIRED FINAL DELIVERABLES The contractor must provide: 1. A before-work crawl export. 2. An after-work crawl export. 3. A URL-level change log showing exactly what was changed. 4. A list of the 30 priority URLs reviewed. 5. A list of the legacy redirects tested and their final status. 6. Desktop and mobile screenshots of all three completed buying guides. 7. A test sheet for every buying-guide table-of-contents link, back-to-top link, and related-guide link. 8. Structured-data validation results for all three guides. 9. A list of any remaining exceptions or issues outside the agreed scope. 10. A short screen-recorded walkthrough of the completed work. 11. Confirmation that all approved changes are live on the production website. 12. Backup and rollback information for any code, template, plugin, or configuration change. ACCEPTANCE REQUIREMENTS The project will be considered complete when all of the following have been verified: TECHNICAL AND MIGRATION • The approved NorthMark domain version resolves consistently. • No redirect loop exists within the tested legacy URL group. • No tested legacy URL passes through more than one redirect unless NorthMark approves a documented exception. • The NorthMark XML sitemap contains only approved canonical and indexable URLs returning a 200 status. • No critical canonical, robots, sitemap, or indexability issue remains within the agreed scope. BRANDING AND METADATA • The 30 approved priority URLs have been reviewed. • No unapproved Bailey or Welch wording remains in their SEO titles, meta descriptions, Open Graph data, or relevant schema. • NorthMark capitalization is consistent within the corrected elements. • The homepage, News page, Portfolio page, and three buying guides have approved titles and metadata. • Approved historical and transition-page references remain intact. NAVIGATION AND CRAWLABILITY • Every visible News and Portfolio item contains a direct crawlable link to its canonical page. • The existing articles, buying guides, and project pages can be discovered through a standard crawl beginning at the homepage. • No tested navigation item unintentionally opens an image file or media-attachment page. • No site-generated internal link within the corrected templates returns a 4XX or 5XX status. • Corrected internal links do not pass through avoidable redirects. • Desktop and mobile navigation have been tested. BUYING GUIDES • All three buying guides have approved titles, hero images, metadata, and social-sharing images. • No literal link instructions or visible editorial placeholders remain. • Every table-of-contents link works. • Every back-to-top link works. • Every related-guide link works. • No approved guide contains duplicated introductory content. • Images display properly on desktop, tablet, and mobile. • The guides appear correctly in the existing News and Buying Guides navigation. • Relevant Article or BlogPosting and Breadcrumb structured data passes validation without critical errors.
