First, the post specifies more than 30 hours per week. That is not accurate, at least not yet. If you are not an A-player and cannot meet the requirements specified below, don't even bother submitting because it will quickly not work out even if you interview well. About Us: We're a growth-focused, full service digital marketing agency managing SEO and AI Engine Optimization (AEO) programs for a portfolio of B2B and local service clients across multiple verticals: Home services / roofing (local SEO, NJ-based) Enterprise energy procurement (B2B/SaaS) Telecommunications (B2B services) Wealth management (financial services) We have in-house content development capabilities and established client workbooks, content plans, KPI frameworks, and reporting infrastructure already in place. What we need is a strategic SEO leader to direct the program — not another executor. The Role: This is a Director-level SEO position - part-time/fractional - responsible for strategy, quality control, vendor management, and performance reporting across a growing number of client accounts. You will NOT be writing blog posts or building links yourself. You will be directing what gets written, who builds the links, and whether the work meets our quality standards. Core Responsibilities: Strategy & Planning: Own the SEO and AEO strategy across all client accounts Conduct keyword research, competitive analysis, and content planning Develop and maintain content briefs for our in-house content team Identify ranking opportunities across traditional search and AI platforms (ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, Copilot) Advise on technical SEO priorities per client Quality Control: Review all deliverables before they go live - blog content, guest posts, citations, on-page optimizations, technical fixes Set and enforce quality standards for guest post placements (DA thresholds, topical relevance, contextual link placement) Ensure citation quality meets manual verification standards Review and optimize content briefs and published content for SEO and AEO effectiveness Vendor Management: Source, vet, and manage specialized service providers for: Guest post outreach and placement Citation building Technical SEO audits and implementation Hold vendors accountable to deliverable timelines, quality standards, and reporting Recommend vendor changes when performance doesn't meet standards KPI Ownership & Reporting: Own the reporting stack: Rank Tracker (keyword rankings), Scrunch AI (AEO monitoring across 8 AI platforms), Google Analytics 4 (traffic/engagement), WhatConverts (conversions/lead quality) Build and maintain Looker Studio dashboards per client Deliver monthly performance reports with insights and recommendations Track deliverable completion against agreed timelines Client Communication: Attend client calls (cadence varies: weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly depending on account) Present SEO/AEO performance updates with data-driven insights Make strategic recommendations - not just status reports Contribute to client retention and expansion conversations Team Coordination: Brief and direct our in-house content developer on all SEO content Coordinate with account managers/project managers on deliverable flow Ensure all workbooks and project trackers stay current What We Already Have in Place: You're not starting from scratch. We provide: Established client relationships and direct communication channels Client structure with project management tracking, deliverable timelines, keyword research, content strategies, and on-page optimization reports (see scope example below) In-house content development - you brief, they write, you review KPI tracking infrastructure: Rank Tracker, Scrunch AI, GA4, WhatConverts Looker Studio reporting templates Content plans already built per client Existing vendor relationships to evaluate and potentially retain Example client deliverable scope (monthly per client): 2 blog posts (content developed in-house, SEO-directed by you) 2 guest post backlinks (placed by vendor, managed by you) 10-20 quality citations (built by vendor, quality-controlled by you) On-page optimizations Technical SEO monitoring Monthly analytics and performance report Client call participation The Ideal Candidate: 5+ years of SEO experience with at least 2 years in a strategic/leadership role (not just execution) Proven experience managing SEO vendors - link builders, guest post providers, technical SEO specialists Strong understanding of AEO - how content, citations, and authority signals feed AI platforms and how to optimize for AI-driven discovery Data-driven - comfortable with GA4, Rank Tracker, Google Search Console, and building Looker Studio dashboards Familiar with or willing to learn Scrunch AI for AEO monitoring across ChatGPT, AI Overviews, Perplexity, Copilot, etc. Familiar with WhatConverts or similar conversion tracking and lead quality tools Experience across both local SEO and B2B/enterprise SEO - our portfolio requires both Excellent communication - comfortable on client calls presenting strategy, not just data Quality-first mindset - you know the difference between a CCR-Mag editorial placement and a Megri.com content farm, and you'd never let the latter through Strategic thinker who can also get tactical - you set the direction AND review the details Experience working within structured systems - -trackers, content calendars, approval workflows This Is NOT the Right Fit If: You're primarily an executor looking for someone to tell you what to do Your experience is only in one vertical (local OR B2B, not both) You've never managed external vendors or contractors You can't explain the difference between a quality guest post and a paid placement on a content farm You're not comfortable with client-facing communication You view AEO as "not my job" - it's central to everything we do Screening Questions (Please Answer in Your Proposal): Describe your experience managing SEO vendors or contractors. How did you vet them, set quality standards, and hold them accountable? What is your approach to quality-controlling guest post placements? What would you look for, and what would you reject? How do you approach AEO (AI Engine Optimization)? What specific tactics do you use to improve a client's visibility across AI platforms? Describe a time you managed SEO across multiple clients in different verticals simultaneously. How did you handle the different strategies? What reporting tools do you use, and how do you structure a monthly client report? Walk me through what you'd present on a client call. Are you comfortable attending weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly client calls across multiple accounts? Describe your communication style on these calls. What's the biggest SEO quality failure you've caught before it went live? What was the issue and how did you handle it? To Apply: Please include: Answers to all 7 screening questions A brief overview of your current/recent role and how it relates to this position Examples of reporting dashboards or client deliverables you've created (scrubbed for confidentiality is fine) Your hourly rate and estimated weekly availability Any experience with the tools in our stack: Rank Tracker, Scrunch AI, GA4, WhatConverts, Looker Studio This is a long-term strategic partnership. If you're the right fit, this grows as our client portfolio grows. Out last Director of SEO was with us for 13 years.

SEO Specialist — Part-Time, Ongoing WordPress, Shopify, Technical SEO & AI Search/GEO | ~20 hours per week Lockhern Digital is a fully remote Search Everywhere Agency. We help brands become more visible wherever their customers are searching, from traditional Google results to AI Overviews and LLM-generated answers. We’re a passionate, fast-moving team that cares deeply about doing excellent work. We provide clear briefs, document decisions carefully, and give people the space and trust to take ownership of their work. We move quickly, but we don’t cut corners. We’re looking for a thoughtful, detail-oriented SEO Specialist who enjoys turning strategy into real, high-quality improvements on client websites. This is a hands-on implementation role. You won’t just make recommendations or send audits into the void, you’ll help write, optimize, build, QA, document, and, when appropriate, deploy the work. What you’ll work on You’ll receive organized briefs and tasks through ClickUp and take ownership of work such as: On-page SEO Write and optimize meta titles and descriptions Improve H1s, H2s, H3s, and overall heading structure Add useful, descriptive image alt text Strengthen internal linking and page relevance Technical SEO Implement and validate JSON-LD schema, including FAQPage, BlogPosting, LocalBusiness, Product, and other structured data Set up and QA 301 redirects Correct canonical and noindex issues Identify and improve thin, duplicate, or unnecessary template pages Help keep XML sitemaps and robots.txt files clean and accurate Local and location SEO Build and optimize city, service-area, and topical hub pages Create useful, genuinely unique hyperlocal content Develop logical internal-linking structures across location pages Content and conversion optimization Draft and rewrite blog posts and on-page copy Turn client newsletters, notes, or source material into search-friendly content Improve calls to action and page copy with both conversions and search intent in mind Apply E-E-A-T principles while keeping the writing natural and genuinely helpful WordPress and Shopify execution Make changes directly in WordPress Update Shopify collections, products, metadata, and page content Handle light theme or template adjustments when needed AI Search and GEO Structure pages and supporting data to improve their chances of appearing in AI Overviews and LLM-generated answers Help us monitor and report on AI/LLM visibility Explore practical ways to make client content easier for both search engines and AI systems to understand and cite Data preparation and quality assurance Build and maintain spreadsheets for bulk metadata, H1, content, and schema projects Review AI-assisted content carefully for accuracy, clarity, tone, and usefulness Document completed changes in shared Google Docs and Sheets QA your work before anything is considered ready to deploy Success in this role means delivering accurate, thoughtful work on time, with clear documentation and minimal back-and-forth. We care about speed, but we care even more about getting the details right. You may be a great fit if you have At least two years of hands-on experience with on-page and technical SEO Confidence working in WordPress with RankMath and/or Yoast Experience implementing SEO changes in Shopify A solid understanding of structured data and JSON-LD schema Working knowledge of Google Search Console and GA4 Strong SEO writing skills, especially for metadata, headings, landing pages, and blog content Comfort using Google Sheets or Excel for bulk content and QA work Experience using tools such as ChatGPT or Claude, and the judgment to fact-check, edit, and improve their output A genuine interest in AI Search, Generative Engine Optimization, AI Overviews, and LLM visibility Experience with Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, and Looker Studio is a plus. Other helpful skills include basic HTML/CSS, WP All Import, Shopify Liquid, Google Business Profile, and local SEO, but you don’t need to check every box to apply. Above all, we’re looking for someone who is careful, curious, dependable, and proud of their work. Small mistakes on live client sites matter, so attention to detail is important, but so is knowing when to ask a question rather than make an uncertain guess. We would rather be asked 1000 times and get it right than not be asked and get it wrong. Communication and collaboration Clear communication matters just as much as technical ability. You’ll be expected to: Write clear, professional English Keep task statuses current in ClickUp Leave useful comments and document what you changed Flag questions or blockers early rather than going quiet Join occasional video calls Record and watch Loom walkthroughs when helpful Be responsive during our agreed overlap window with US business hours Work independently outside that window We’re async-first, so we don’t expect you to be online all day. We do expect reliable updates, thoughtful questions, and consistent follow-through. What it’s like to work with us We’re fully remote and distributed, with a few hours of overlap with US business hours for collaboration. Most work is organized into monthly task batches with clear start dates, due dates, and supporting briefs. We document as we go so multiple people can contribute safely without overwriting work or making risky live-site changes. We QA everything, especially AI-assisted content. We also avoid deploying client-site changes on Fridays; Mondays are usually our preferred deployment day. You’ll receive clear direction, practical feedback, and room to do your work well. We value people who take ownership, communicate kindly, and care about the client experience, not just checking off tasks. Role details Part-time: Approximately 20 hours per week Contract: Ongoing, with room to grow as the agency grows Location: Fully remote Schedule: Flexible, with some agreed overlap with US business hours Trial: We’ll begin with a small paid task so both sides can decide whether the working relationship feels like a strong fit How to apply Please start your proposal with the words “AI Overview” so we know you read the full post. Then tell us briefly about: Your relevant SEO experience One or two examples of on-page, technical, local, or content SEO work you’re proud of The platforms and tools you’re strongest in, such as WordPress, RankMath, Shopify, schema, GSC, GA4, Ahrefs, or Screaming Frog Your experience with, or perspective on, AI Search, GEO, AI Overviews, and LLM visibility Links to a portfolio, work samples, or relevant case studies are welcome. Please don’t worry about writing a long proposal; a thoughtful, specific response is much more helpful than a generic one. We read every application and respond quickly to candidates who seem like a strong fit. We’re looking forward to learning more about you and the work you enjoy doing.

SEO & AEO Consultant — Fix Technical, On-Page & Answer-Engine Issues (One-Time Project) Engagement type: Fixed-price, milestone-based — one-time project, not an ongoing retainer Location requirement: U.S.-based freelancers only (must be authorized to work in the U.S.) Category: SEO / Technical SEO / Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) About Us We are a boutique, NYC-based wine and culinary tourism company. We run international food, wine, and cultural excursions (Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, Australia, Japan), local day trips to New York wine country (North Fork of Long Island, Hudson Valley), private and corporate tours, team-building events, wine dinners, and a vineyard concert series. We have a strong reputation (4.9★ across ~425+ Google reviews) but our organic search and AI-answer visibility do not yet reflect that strength. Project Overview We have already identified a defined set of SEO and AEO issues on our custom WordPress site and want an experienced consultant to fix them. This is a scoped, finite project — diagnose, implement the fixes, verify, and hand off. We are not looking for a monthly retainer, an open-ended "growth" engagement, or a link-building subscription. When the agreed deliverables are complete and verified, the engagement is done. Scope of Work The work below reflects issues we've identified. The first milestone lets you confirm and prioritize the full list against the live site before the bulk of the work begins. 1. Technical SEO Audit and fix crawlability/indexation issues (robots.txt, XML sitemap, canonicalization, redirects, orphaned or duplicate pages). Diagnose and improve Core Web Vitals / page speed, including performance drag from heavy review/testimonial content on the homepage. Fix mobile usability, broken links, and any render-blocking or indexing errors surfaced in Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools. Validate and correct HTTP status codes, hreflang (if applicable to international content), and metadata delivery. 2. Structured Data (Schema) — a priority area Implement and validate schema markup appropriate to a wine tourism business, including but not limited to: LocalBusiness / TouristAttraction (NAP, hours, service area) Event markup for tours, tastings, and vineyard jazz concerts Product / Offer / Trip markup for bookable experiences Review / AggregateRating to surface our 4.9★ reputation FAQPage and BreadcrumbList All markup must pass Google's Rich Results Test with no errors. 3. On-Page SEO Optimize titles, meta descriptions, and header (H1–H2) hierarchy across key pages (homepage, tour/experience pages, destination pages, blog). Fix keyword targeting and cannibalization for priority terms (e.g., "food and wine tours Italy/France/Spain," "NYC wine tours," "North Fork wine tour," "Hudson Valley wine tasting," "corporate wine events," "wine dinners NYC"). Improve internal linking and image SEO (alt text, file sizing, lazy-loading). 4. Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) Optimize the site to be cited by AI answer engines and AI Overviews (Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini) and to win featured snippets for our priority topics. Add/structure conversational, question-and-answer content (FAQ sections, clear entity definitions) so our experiences are quotable and machine-readable. Strengthen entity/brand clarity so search and answer engines correctly understand who we are, what we offer, and where we operate. Ensure our content is accessible to AI crawlers and formatted for extractable answers. 5. Local SEO (as it relates to the above) Review NAP consistency between the site, Google Business Profile, and major citations. Provide recommendations to align on-site local signals with our GBP. (GBP management itself is out of scope — see below.) Explicitly Out of Scope To keep this project bounded, the following are not included: Ongoing monthly SEO retainer or perpetual management. Off-site link building or backlink acquisition campaigns. Paid search / Google Ads management. New website design, rebuild, or migration. Content marketing production beyond the on-page and FAQ/AEO content needed to fix the identified issues. Ongoing Google Business Profile posting/management. If you believe an out-of-scope item is essential, note it in your proposal as a separate, clearly-priced add-on — do not bundle it into the base project. Deliverables Confirmed audit & prioritized fix plan (Milestone 1) — a short document validating the issue list against the live site, with priorities and effort estimates. Implemented fixes across technical, on-page, structured data, and AEO items above, deployed to the live site (or delivered as ready-to-deploy changes, per our environment). Validation evidence — passing Rich Results Test results, updated PageSpeed/Core Web Vitals scores, and a clean Search Console crawl/index check. Before/after summary report documenting what was fixed, the measurable change where visible, and a short list of any recommended future actions (informational only, no obligation). Milestones & Timeline Milestone 1 — Audit & Fix Plan: confirm scope, prioritize. (~3–5 business days) Milestone 2 — Implementation: execute the agreed fixes. (~2–3 weeks, to be confirmed after M1) Milestone 3 — QA, Validation & Handoff: validate, request re-crawl, deliver before/after report. Engagement ends here. (~3–5 business days, plus a short verification window for re-indexing) We're open to your recommended timeline in your proposal. Requirements U.S.-based, with strong written English and clear communication. Demonstrable experience with technical SEO, structured data/schema, and AEO (please show recent examples or case studies). Hands-on proficiency with Google Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools, a technical crawler (Screaming Frog, Sitebulg, or similar), PageSpeed Insights/Lighthouse, and schema validation tools. Experience optimizing for AI answer engines and featured snippets, not just traditional rankings. Comfortable working in a custom WordPress environment (custom theme/templates, not a page-builder-only stack) and coordinating deployment of changes; ability to implement schema and technical fixes without breaking existing functionality. Bonus: experience with local, travel/tourism, hospitality, culinary, or events/experience-based businesses. To Apply, Please send a brief note on how you'd approach a scoped, fix-and-finish SEO/AEO project (not a retainer). 2–3 relevant examples where you fixed similar technical/structured-data/AEO issues, with results if available. Your fixed-price quote broken down by the three milestones, plus your estimated timeline. Which tools you'll use and confirmation you can validate all schema and Core Web Vitals fixes. We're looking for someone thorough, communicative, and comfortable closing out a defined project cleanly. We value quality and clear reporting over volume.
