Hi! I’m a newer lifestyle content creator looking for a U.S.-based editor I can work with consistently and hopefully grow with long-term. My content is centered around real life, motherhood, home, intentional/thoughtful living, entrepreneurship, building additional streams of income, products I genuinely use and love, and generally figuring things out as I go. Absolutely zero AI here! I’m also launching a casual weekly podcast, which I’ll primarily record during my drive to school. The concept is intentionally conversational and real, more like talking to a friend in the car than sitting in a polished podcast studio. What I’m looking for each month: * 4 podcast episodes, approximately 15–20 minutes each Light podcast editing: clean up audio, remove obvious mistakes/long pauses, tighten unnecessary repetition, and add a simple intro/outro * Approximately 8–10 short-form Reels per month * Some Reels can be clips pulled directly from podcast footage Other Reels will come from lifestyle, home, product/Amazon, or talking-head footage that I provide *Clean captions/text where appropriate *Simple music or B-roll when it genuinely adds to the content *Vertical formatting for Instagram/TikTok The editing style I’m looking for: Natural, warm, clean and relatable. I do not want everything to feel overly produced or like an ad. I want my personality, humor and conversational style to come through. I’d much rather content feel human and engaging than perfectly polished. I’m not an editor, and editing is honestly the part of content creation that keeps me from posting consistently. 😂 I’m hoping to find someone who can take my raw footage and turn it into something engaging without needing frame-by-frame instructions from me every time. I’m completely open to working with a newer editor who is talented and building their portfolio. I care much more about good instincts, communication, reliability, attention to detail and understanding my style than I do about how many years you’ve been editing. Budget: $300/month This is my starting budget as a newer creator, so I’m intentionally keeping the editing relatively simple. If the full scope above isn't realistic for you, please feel free to tell me what monthly deliverables you could provide for $300. My goal is to find someone for an ongoing working relationship. As my content and platforms grow, I’d love for the relationship, scope and budget to grow as well. I’d like to begin with one paid test edit before committing to ongoing monthly work so we can both make sure it’s a good fit. When applying, please send: - 2–4 examples of short-form content you've edited - A podcast/talking-head example if you have one - What you could realistically deliver each month within my $300 budget - Your typical turnaround time - A little about your editing style and the type of creators/content you enjoy working with Please start your proposal with the words “Commute to Connect” so I know you actually read the entire post. 🙂 Looking forward to finding someone who gets the vibe and wants to build something together!

Short-Form Video Editor Needed – High-Impact Product & Fire Testing Content We are looking for an experienced short-form video editor to turn our existing long-form footage into high-quality, engaging content for Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Facebook, and X. We are launching a new wildfire protection technology company and have a large library of professionally filmed, real-world testing footage. Our content includes: Live fire testing Extreme wind testing Water cannon demonstrations App-controlled fire suppression Mobile robotic equipment POV camera footage Behind-the-scenes product development Founder-led explanations and demonstrations This is NOT stock footage or generic promotional content. We have real testing and visually compelling footage. We need someone who knows how to turn it into short-form content that people actually stop and watch. WHAT WE NEED Initially, we want approximately 20–30 polished short-form videos, generally 15–45 seconds each. If the quality and working relationship are strong, this can become ongoing work with significantly more content. You should be able to: Identify the strongest moments from longer videos Create a powerful hook within the first 1–2 seconds Edit for viewer retention, not just appearance Create clean, professional captions and on-screen text Reframe footage properly for 9:16 vertical video Use pacing, cuts, zooms, sound design, and music appropriately Turn one piece of footage into multiple clips with different hooks or angles Understand the differences between TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts Keep the content professional and credible rather than making it feel like a cheap advertisement THE STYLE We want the content to feel: REAL. HIGH-END. DRAMATIC. CREDIBLE. TECHNOLOGY-DRIVEN. Think documentary/product-testing content rather than traditional corporate advertising. The footage should be the hero. For example, rather than starting a video with a company introduction, we may start with: “WE TESTED IT IN 40+ MPH WINDS.” “CAN YOU FIGHT A FIRE FROM YOUR PHONE?” “THIS FIRE SYSTEM IS CONTROLLED FROM AN APP.” Then immediately show the test. IMPORTANT We are looking for someone who understands storytelling and short-form performance—not simply someone who can edit video. When applying, please send: 3–5 examples of your BEST short-form work. Examples involving products, technology, testing, automotive, engineering, fire, outdoor equipment, or similarly visual subjects if available. Your price for an initial batch of 20 short-form videos. Your typical turnaround time. The editing software you use. Please begin your proposal with the words “FIRE TEST” so we know you read the entire posting. There is substantial opportunity for ongoing work for the right editor.
