Hello! My name is Christen, and human thoughts and behaviors have always fascinated me. Reading is my passion, and my imagination is fueled by the words of others. By combining my education and my love of reading, I would be privileged to proofread and copyedit your literary work to ensure it is the best that it can be.
I will perform a detailed edit in Microsoft Word. I will make certain that all spelling, grammar, punctuation, and subject-verb agreement are correct. I will also edit the work to confirm the content is consistent and free of errors.
I believe communication is the key to a great working relationship and encourage an open dialogue throughout the proofreading and editing journey.

German–English Localization, Translation & Linguistic QA Specialist
I help companies turn English content into German that feels natural, accurate, and ready for real users.
My main focus is German localization, translation, proofreading, and linguistic QA across apps, websites, product flows, marketing content, help centers, blogs, and other written formats. I work with English source material and adapt it into clear, idiomatic German while preserving the intent, tone, and practical function of the original.
A large part of my work happens in product and digital environments: UI strings, onboarding flows, app content, website copy, SEO-aware content, Crowdin / Lokalise tasks, FigJam-based QA, and AI-generated translations that need careful human review. I pay close attention not only to grammar and wording, but also to context, terminology, consistency, character limits, layout fit, and how the text actually reads inside the product.
At the same time, my work is not limited to reviewing existing content. I also support clients with content creation, copywriting, rewriting, research-based work, content structuring, communication, and language-related administrative tasks. In practice, this means I can step into different parts of a German–English where clear thinking, strong language skills, and reliable execution are needed.
Clients usually come to me when they need German content that is more than just “correct.” They need language that sounds natural to German users, fits the product experience, and can be published with confidence.
What I can help with:
→ English ↔ German translation and localization
→ German proofreading, editing, and linguistic QA
→ App, web, product, and UX copy review
→ AI-translated or AI-generated content review and refinement
→ SEO-aware content adaptation and creation
→ Terminology, glossary, and consistency checks
→ Clear communication around issues, suggestions, and implementation details
I’m a native German speaker with strong English proficiency and a very precise understanding of tone, meaning, and textual nuance. I’m comfortable working independently, asking the right questions when needed, and keeping clients updated clearly throughout the process.
My goal is simple: to help you produce German content that is accurate, natural, and useful in the real context where your audience will read it.

My passion and expertise is helping you turn rough drafts into polished prose!
Did you write it down but it doesn't look right? Maybe you just need that second pair of eyes to check for those tiny details that might be missed. Ideas how to elevate your writing with just a few, near effortless, changes?
Let's work together to get your story out to your audience, where it belongs!
I am an experienced editor and proofreader with one goal in mind—helping you reach your publishing goal!
What kind of an editor am I? I’m empathetic. Meaning, I understand the experience of bringing your ideas to life. It can be kind of scary. There’s that worry of turning over an idea to write about or an edit that needs to be done. What’s going to happen? Will you like it?
That’s why I take the time to explain what I do, and why. My first experience of having a manuscript edited was horrifying. It was enough to make a person swear off writing forever. I won't do that to you! I want you to experience the absolute joy in holding a copy of your book with your name on it.
I love to work with clients to make sure what they see in their mind is what happens on paper.
Everything I do? It has one purpose. To enhance your story and help you be the best.
With almost two decades in the publishing industry, and dozens of my clients getting traditional publishing contracts, I want to help you bring your project to life. Let me use my experience from small presses and boutique publishers to help you get from words on a doc to book in your hands!

Once your writing is out of your hands, it speaks for you. My ghostwriting, copy editing, and proofreading will help you make the best first impression on your readers.
As an editor and published author with decades of experience, I can take your project in whatever shape it’s in and make it ready for your agent, publisher, or academic committee.
Why hire me and not a competitor? Because whatever “space” you’re in—business, the arts, teaching, the humanities, the sciences (natural and social)—I’ve probably had a client or two in it. I’ll quickly “get” what your writing needs. Confirm my grasp of your problem, and I’ll get to work solving it, interacting with you along the way as much or as little as you see fit. And as my clients will attest, I’m very easy to get along with!
Here's what you can expect:
"Anthony was a great find for this project. He completed the job successfully, exactly as I was looking for. What a relief that I found this gem of a writer. I'm very pleased with the results. Anthony masterfully created an intriguing read from my initial gibberish! Although I've read at least several thousand books, when I tried to write this, I just couldn't make it work to my satisfaction. . . . I would highly recommend Anthony, and I hope he isn't too busy for my next project after the rest of you find him."
"The job description called for copy editing and proofreading my manuscript’s first 20,000 words, but my initial cooperation with Tony justified giving him all 91,000 words to edit for content. He did that superbly, humbly, and quickly, giving my manuscript the criticism that it needed. His marginal comments are as clear as they are wise. His response time was excellent. I can recommend Tony without reservation and would gladly work with him again."
Is your English non-native? Don’t worry: let an empathetic editor remove tell-tale signs.
Shoot me a query; you have nothing to lose. I’ll get back to you right away, usually within hours. We can then, if you'd like, set up a time to chat about your project.
Let's find out what I can do for your writing!

I'm an Englishman with excellent command of, and deep love for, my native language, and I want to give your own words some of that love and attention. I am a stickler for consistency and correctness in word use, presentation and formatting. My niche is NOT in producing the written word, but in proofreading and copy-editing other people’s to take it to the top level. I take your written labour of love and polish it to perfection, not to put my own voice on it, but to show your own work in its very best light.
ACADEMIC WORK
I specialise in high-end academic proofing and editing up to PhD level. I have a thirty-year professional career behind me and have written three master’s theses of my own, as well as writing or collaborating on numerous scientific studies and corporate reports. I am adept at applying the main style guides (especially APA6) meticulously, in both text and reference sections.
YOUR SUBJECT: I do not need to know your subject! A common misconception I find in many job postings is that the client is looking for someone who knows their subject – when really what they need is an objective proofreader/editor who has the ability to see behind the subject to the words beneath, to make sure that the sentences and paragraphs are properly constructed, fluent and readable. Rest assured that I will search/Google/Wiki any questions as I come across them, and won’t waste your time coming back to you with queries – but if I need to ask them, I will.
WHAT I DON’T DO: I will polish up your academic work, but I won’t do it for you. I won't write anything. I don’t re-write passages, build arguments, do research, fill in sections, or anything that necessarily has to be the work of the author.
POLISHING HIGH-END NATIVE AND NON-NATIVE ENGLISH CONTENT
If you’re a business person, an entrepreneur or a marketer from an English-speaking country, I will check over your corporate manuals, marketing material, B2Bs, white papers, Web content, etc, to make sure they are grammatically perfect and internally consistent. Small errors on Web pages or in business communications are jarring to the reader, and give the impression (even subconsciously) of a lack of professionalism.
If you’re an entrepreneur or a marketer from Europe (or any other non-English-speaking country), who wants your content to be checked and perfected to make it sound like it was written by a native, then I’m your man. Your customers will feel more drawn towards you if you have taken the effort to make your business material polished and professional.
(THE NEGATIVE STUFF...)
WHAT I DON’T DO: I DO NOT WR*TE.
I don’t make silk purses out of sows’ ears. I don't polish turds. If you’ve paid someone a few dollars to write something for your content mill and find you have to pay someone else to fix it up, then you’ll find someone a lot cheaper than me to give you what you want. If words were animals, then I’d be a pamperer and a groomer – not a puppy farmer.
WHY AM I SO EXPENSIVE? I’m not, believe me. You’ll only need to pay me once to have your work ready to go, so by paying more upfront you’ll be saving in the long run.
WHAT I DON’T DO
If I see a mention of Copyscape, forget it. I don’t spin; I don’t rewrite; and I won’t work on anything that I know or believe to be plagiarised (and I will flag accordingly).
AND I DON’T WRITE. If you’ve been shown to this page by a search algorithm, forget it. I’M NOT A WR*TER. Upwork's automatic algorithms are as effective as a chocolate fireguard or an underwater hairdryer.

I love to help authors proofread and polish their work, and frequently do book reviews also. I have been co-author of 5 books in the spiritual genre. I am a magazine writer, editor and proofreader.I have two blogs, on books and new products. I write magazine articles about such topics as quirky and historical travel, animals, the psychic world, and unusual museums or destinations. The books I've co-authored have been with a famous psychic/medium/motivational speaker. I have also written and produced radio programs and lectures. I pay great attention to detail regarding grammar, punctuation, sentence structure and spelling. I pride myself on my proofreading and editing skills. I also do book reviews so am exposed frequently to books in their final form or pre-release form, where I often catch mistakes before the finished product goes to print.
