If it's superb writing and expert editing you need, you're in the right place. My forte is making sure your final product reflects your inner genius. Whether you're a corporate CEO or a one-man show, you'll get polished, professional content that lets your expertise shine. I've been editing professionally since 1993—everything from technical, financial, and scientific reports, blogs, SOPs, and manuals to manuscripts, poetry, motivational curricula, and annual reports. My writing is nimble and diverse, crafting persuasive proposals, compelling case studies, moving memoirs and bios, and creative, dynamic marketing assets. My work reflects my native U.S. English language. I'm downright fanatical (read: neurotic) about spelling, grammar, punctuation, and formatting. In addition to proofreading, I offer superior copyediting: improving phrasing, clarity, tone, and flow; identifying areas that need additional support; and writing new or revised material that genuinely connects with your reader. In 2019, I took a leap of faith and retired from a 26-year career in state government at age 43 (do the math if you want to!) to pursue my dream of editing and writing as a freelancer. Since then, I've been helping individuals and companies produce outstanding content of every sort. My reviews are truly humbling, and I encourage you to read a few. What's ahead? That depends on you! Join me on this journey. Reach out to get the ball rolling. I look forward to talking with you!

My work spans proofreading, copy editing, content quality assurance, social media review, editorial planning, and caption writing. I polish and perfect fiction and nonfiction writing by discerning and addressing opportunities for correction, enhancement, and clarification that authors and other editors miss. My polish elevates content to a level of engagement that appeals to the target audience and enhances the imate of the writer. I hold bachelor's and master's degrees, am a certified proofreader, and am a member of the Editorial Freelancers Association. I am innately detail-oriented and highly proficient in punctuation and grammar, including syntax and verb tenses. If the writer has a style guide, I follow it to the letter. Otherwise, I adhere to the Chicago Manual of Style, with which I am deeply familiar. I edit in Microsoft Word, use Track Changes to identify all revisions, and offer comments to provide my reasoning for changes that may not be self-explanatory. I also work in Google Docs and PDF. I am a native speaker of American English, and my vocabulary is extensive. I choose words to convey the writer's intent precisely, with color and impact. I conduct online research throughout my projects and provide links to websites I rely on in suggesting changes. I work on only one project at a time and focus solely on its, polishing and perfecting without disturbing the author's voice or the writing’s tone. I am always happy to polish a sample of the author's writing at no cost. I am open to a rate per word or per hour rate or a flat fee, whichever the writer prefers.

I am a freelance writer and English tutor from Honolulu, Hawaii, United States. I was previously working at the admissions and study abroad department at Hawaii Pacific University and had worked in multiple teaching assistant positions at the high school level. I am currently pursuing a PhD in International Area Cooperation at Pusan National University in Busan, South Korea. I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in International Studies and Master's Degree in Diplomacy & Military Studies. I studied abroad in Morocco at AMIDEAST Agdal; and at both Soonchunhyang University and Sogang University in South Korea. I recently also attained my TESOL Certification through UNI-Prep Institute. I wrote an op-ed piece on North Korea for the Honolulu Star-Advertiser. I was also an article writer for I Heart Korea (an online journal focusing on Hallyu (the Korean Wave) - culture, music, arts, and travel pieces) and Pangyao Magazine (a Hong Kong-based publication for overseas foreign workers (OFWs)). Some of my other writing experiences include - writing a short article for my university newspaper, the Kalamalama; several study abroad blogs; and several newsletters I published when I use to work in my university's International Admissions department. I also wrote a dissertation on "External and Internal Factors of Inter-Korean Relations in the 1970s and 2010s" and co-edited theses on "The Effectiveness of International Organizations in the Resolution of Inter-Ethnic Tensions: The Case of Kyrgyzstan" and "Strategic Studies of China’s Oceanic Expansion through the Belt and Road Initiative: Comprehensive Perspectives, Complexible Reasons and Challengeable Purposes". I had also helped edit a few chapters on a book on North Korean Policy. On the English tutoring side, I was formerly an exchange student for a year-long program at Soonchunhyang University in Asan, South Korea and had done conversational exchanges with ten Korean students a semester as part of a cultural internship. And in the summer, I worked as an English Camp Counselor at Soonchunhyang. I worked 3+ years in both Hawaii and South Korea as a teacher in many different academies, camps, and schools. My interests include traveling, writing, reading, hiking, watching movies, learning languages, and political debate/discussion. I am a dependable and very friendly, down-to-earth kinda guy. I am patient, and understanding as a teacher needs to be whether this will be in a group setting or through one-on-one tutoring. I am very flexible with my schedule and can work from home; if the job requires travel, then I can do so as well (depending on location).
