Refer to this PDF mockup to see what the template should be able to produce:
Use this InDesign file as a base:
• Margin notes (MOST IMPORTANT)
Short margin notes must appear in the outside margin, and must be anchored to a single word in the flowing text. The margin note will display a reference (volume and page) of a source document (See mockup). Manual placement of margin notes is NOT ACCEPTABLE. It must flow with the text, and the note must ALWAYS appear on the same line as the anchored word. There should be no symbol (asterisks, superscript number, etc.) attached to the anchor. It should be easy to add additional anchored words and have their reference appear in the margin. (left or right, depending on page side)
The document should be able to support standard footnotes (in addition to margin notes) with the footnote number visible in the flowing text.
• Document Structure
As shown in the mockup, there is a section title, subtitle, and subsection headings. Under each heading, there are dates. The section title and dates should be in the document structure, so they can be referenced (see next item)
• Running headers
Headers showing the section title and the first date shown on the page should run through the document. Structure the document so that the headers update automatically, even if a section name or position (or date position) changes.
• Page numbers
Page numbers should be visible on the outside bottom.
• Look and feel
Follow the look and feel of the mockup as much as possible. Use Adobe Minion Pro, if available. If not, uses Times New Roman.
Keep document elements organized well. Layers, paragraph styles, character styles, object hierarchy, text panels, etc. Use dummy content for now.
