Koe Koe Tech

In happier days for Myanmar, Koe Koe Tech was one of its promising stories. Founded in 2013 by a Myanmar-American, Koe Koe Tech aimed to build local capacity in software development, design, operations, and policy, serving as a law & tech IT organization implementing digital transformation projects in Myanmar. Specifically, we developed a SaaS web app, Messenger bot, and Android app platform for citizens to pay their municipal water bills, property taxes, and other municipal fees. This resulted in $3 million in additional revenue per year for municipalities in Northern Myanmar, 10x-ing water bill revenues in some wards, and 3x-ing property tax revenues township-wide. The Economist covered out work, which was done in partnership with The Asia Foundation. We developed maternal and child health iOS, Android, Messenger and Viber bot apps, "maymay", also covered in The Economist and pre-coup served messages on maternal and child health read by ~5 million mothers every month in Myanmar. The attached video shows a successful UNICEF and Save the Children campaign related to the apps. Unfortunately, a disastrous and violent military coup struck Myanmar in February 2021, dashing our scale-up to 100+ townships with our tax software and expanding maymay's influence in every of the 330 townships in the country. Every day our team, still in Myanmar, fights for their freedom, for human rights and democracy. We're still working! We still have a team of over 50 people, with ~30 software developers with a decade of experience in: - Web/back-end: .NET Core, HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, WebAPIs - Front end: React, Angular, Razor/Blazor - Mobile: Flutter, Android Studio, Xcode, React Native - Computer Science: Machine learning, Natural language processing (NLP), data pre-processing, vectorization, word segmentation, model selection (e.g. sigmoid), led by CS PhD - Persistence: SQL, NoSQL (MongoDB) - Graphic design: Photoshop, InDesign, Figma - Sample patterns: CQRS, MVC, MVVM - Product management: Agile, Jira, Themes/Epics/Initiatives/User Stories, PRDs We're adding an outsourcing model to sustain our team while Myanmar's economy undergoes a freefall, with a World Bank projected ~-20% fall in GDP this year alone. We have talented people with significant experience ready to develop apps for you, led by a Myanmar-American with dual domains in law (J.D. NYU) and computer science (M.C.I.T. UPenn).
