Production lead time schedules Duties Depending on the situation of the client to agency relationship, a project would start like this: • The formulating of the client’s brief by liaising on telephone by conversation • or; formulating the artistic concept to be approved by client • Copy writing of the message to be communicated depending on client’s brief • or; interpreting the client’s written brief from supplied brief in text document • or; interpreting the client’s brief from the art director during verbal briefing Thereafter proceeding to produce artwork according to the needed elements of the project brief: • Proceeding on artwork by doing research (client industry related competitors, design trends, stock photography/illustration, or original illustration) • Drawing up layout options in Adobe Illustrator to present to client • The including of sourced stock photography in chosen layout or arranging for photo shoot of products • Deep-etching or image editing • Using the supplied die line works maps or the editing thereof where necessary and depending on the type of project (example: packaging) • Sketching on paper the decided illustration concept to be drawn out in vectors or raster in Adobe software • Emailing directly to clients or art director, the latest chosen design • Liaising with client or with art director regarding adjustments Once artwork has been approved and signed off by the client, final artwork is prepared: • All images checked to be at correct resolution and colour mode • All text copy checked and confirmed with client if corrections necessary • Final .PDF documents generated and uploaded by Internet file transfer site or sent through email to the printer • Final email communication message, or Power point presentation, to be sent to client (this is in the case of internal or external email communication by the client to their market)
