I’m an excellent ARTIST and creative art director. When a freehand drawing is needed, I usually begin the project by drawing on an iPad using Procreate, which I then enhance as needed in Photoshop. Personally, I work full-time from my studio headquarters in rural Pennsylvania— after running a successful graphic design firm in New York City for many years. Prior to that, I went to art school in NYC for years, and even spent most of my four years serving in the U.S. Navy working as an illustrator for them. Our process (May not require all steps for all jobs). 1) DISCUSS and arrive at a description and/or roughs regarding what needs to be illustrated or designed. This is when I'd ask any pertinent questions or make any up-front recommendations to set up your project to go smoothly and swiftly. 2) Very ROUGH layouts (I call them ‘doodles’…) to establish and verify #1. May be more than one round of roughs, as needed to refine and clarify. 3) TIGHTEN, via back-and-forth progressive roughs... if needed, as needed. 4) INTERMEDIATE work; based on #1, 2, & 3… to review and continue developing...if needed, as needed. 5) FINAL artwork: mostly in JPEG, PNG, PDF, or PSD pixel based format. If you need vector work, let us know up front. 6. Availability for ADAPTING artwork for another usage, as per your needs.
