Irreverent copywriter -- say goodbye to boring

Did you know the original purpose of copywriting was to make people laugh? Okay no not really, I just made that up. But I’m a copywriter, I’m allowed to make things up. :) Seriously though, here’s an indisputable truth that only 20% of people will disagree with: Copywriting *should* make people laugh. Why, you ask? Is it because humor makes the world a better place?  Because laughter is the best medicine? (I think ChatGPT said that) Because my stuffy third grade teacher used to scold me for my wit and I’m still trying to get back at her for it? Well, yes, sure, all of those things… But more importantly… Making people laugh makes it more likely they’ll buy your s***!  Plus, they’ll be LESS likely to unsubscribe, and more likely to recommend you, leave great reviews, etc. See, humor really DOES make the world a better place! Or, as Aristotle put it: “The best copy is funny copy.” Yes, I know, Aristotle didn’t really say that.  Everyone knows it was Socrates.  And trust me, you don’t want to argue with Socrates. Or any of the “eses” for that matter. At this point I’m sure the big burning question on your mind is… “Does this Danny guy have a better handle on his copywriting, than his Greek philosophy??” I’d answer using the words of Plato, but… unfortunately Greek philosophers weren’t known for their optimism. They were known for their logic, though. And logic says, if you want people to buy more of your stuff, you need to make them laugh. And no one can argue with that — not even the eses!
