I love words. I love argument building and narrative structure. I love working with writers to help their work shine. I am tough, but fair. I will always do my best to be a supportive and effective editor for your work. I have 18 years of experience in editing: 7 years in news editing, 11 years in academia, 4 years in fiction/creative nonfiction. I have an MA English (Rhetoric, Writing, Linguistics), MS Information Science (Library Science), and I am ABD (all but dissertation) in my Communication and Information Science doctoral program (cognate: Linguistics). I have 16 publications in 3 languages (including one book chapter in French) and 8 conference presentations in the library science field. I am also a former college-level English literature and writing instructor. Types of editing I offer: beta reading, developmental editing, line editing, copy editing, and proofreading. For academic writing, I also offer citation/reference checking and formatting. I have taught students how to use all the major citation styles, such as MLA, Chicago, Turabian, APA, and Harvard. I have edited many works of fiction of differing lengths and genres. Most of these manuscripts have been short stories and novellas, but I have edited full-length novels, between 50K and 90K words. . I have also edited and ghostwritten memoirs of 30-50K words. In academic writing, I have edited manuscripts for books, book chapters, scholarly articles, conference proposals and papers, dissertations, and grant applications - mainly in the humanities and social sciences.
