I'm a Navajo filmmaker with a decade of experience. I operate a certified Navajo Businesses, Nizhoni Films LLC. * I'm experienced in videography, especially documentaries. I can be a one man camera crew, or part of a crew. * I'll fully manage your video production, from budgeting and pre-production, to filming and field production, to editing and post production. * I have a network of trusted professionals who specialize in making high quality, beautiful films. James’s unlikely journey began on a rural homestead in the Navajo Nation. He had artistic ambitions from an early age, at 14 years old James filmed his first documentary about crime and punishment on the Navajo Nation. But with a population of 1,437, Lukachukai was not an ideal place to start a Filmmaking career. James fled to Scottsdale School of Film & Theatre where he ventured into cinematography, directing, writing, and acting. Then his intuition led him to working for DDC International, where he worked full-time as a documentary filmmaker. For five years, he has filmed, directed, edited, and produced, short films, documentaries, commercials, for clients such as UNC Chapel Hill, NM DOT, and the Atlantic Coast Conference. James has filmed for feature length documentaries that have aired on the AT&T Audience Network, ESPNU, and Fusion. He also worked as a production assistant for films that have aired on HBO. He has recently worked as a cinematographer for several short films, and a focus puller for Hollywood cinematographer Harris Chewning. He is also producing his own documentary “Brave” about the culture pageants on the Navajo Nation.
