➤➤➤ What I Do (At a Glance) I’ve been professionally writing, editing, researching, and consulting for over 25 years. I have the skills to complete projects such as: ✔ High-quality original writing (ex. articles, books, workbooks, long-form content, etc.) ✔ Editing at every level — developmental, substantive & line ✔ Ghostwriting from notes, drafts, or early-stage ideas ✔ Editing and refinement for non-native English writers ✔ AI-to-human editing (polishing AI drafts into clear, natural, ethical content) ✔ Modern SEO content strategy (search intent, AI overviews, human-first optimization) ✔ Content strategy & project management (planning, structure, consistency, teams) ✔ And other similar projects... I work with authors, coaches, founders, website owners, educators, and mission-driven professionals who care about clarity, credibility, and long-term value. ❖ If you’re looking for a collaborative partner who listens, thinks strategically, and respects both your voice and your goals, I’d love to hear about your project. ❖ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ❝I have no hesitation in recommending Anne. She's not the cheapest, but you definitely do get what you pay for! The quality and depth of the work delivered is very much worth paying a premium fee for. ❞ ➤➤➤ Who I Am & How I Work If you’re here, you’re probably looking for the right fit — not just someone who can write or edit, but someone who understands what you’re trying to achieve. For the past two decades, I’ve worked as a freelance writer, editor, and content strategist, partnering with 200+ clients across books, articles, workbooks, and long-form content. Before freelancing full-time, I spent 25 years in counseling, social services, leadership, and program development, including managing teams and building programs from the ground up. My formal education is in Counseling Psychology, with advanced graduate-level research, writing, and a completed master’s thesis. That background matters — because strong writing isn’t just about words. It’s about people, purpose, behavior, and communication. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ❝Anne is really thorough. She takes time to understand your goals and makes sure her work supports them. She is detailed with her work but also doesn't overwhelm you with anything useless. She is able to keep things very concise and articulate them succinctly - which saves a lot of time for everyone.❞ ➤➤➤ Original Content vs. AI-Assisted Content (Clear Distinction) I offer both original writing and AI-assisted writing — and I’m very intentional about the difference. Original writing means: • Fully human, voice-driven content • Built from your ideas, goals, and audience • Ideal for books, thought leadership, and cornerstone content AI-assisted editing and humanization means: • Refining AI-generated drafts for clarity, tone, and accuracy • Eliminating generic phrasing and “AI tells” • Ensuring ethical use, originality, and brand voice • Aligning content with modern SEO and AI overview expectations AI is a tool; not a shortcut. Used well, it supports quality. Used poorly, it damages credibility. I help clients use it well. ➤➤➤ Editorial Expertise As an editor, I work at every stage of the process: • Beta Reading / Editorial Assessment — reader-focused feedback on strengths, gaps, clarity, and engagement • Developmental / Structural Editing — organization, flow, argument, and message clarity • Substantive Editing — content-level refinement, reduced repetition, clearer ideas • Line & Copy Editing — sentence-level clarity, tone, rhythm, and correctness • Proofreading — final check for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and consistency I frequently work with: • Early drafts and messy ideas • Authors who know what they want to say but not how yet • Non-native English writers who want natural, confident language My process always starts the same way: with questions. NOTE: See portfolio for detailed explanations of editing types, scope, and process. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ❝It was a great pleasure working with Anne. She was very detailed with communications and always asked questions to ensure she had all the necessary information to do the job correctly. I highly recommend Anne to anyone looking for an experienced writer focused on results.❞ ➤➤➤ Strategy, SEO & Project Management I understand modern SEO — including search intent, content structure, and how AI-generated search overviews are changing visibility. But I don’t chase trends at the expense of quality. I help clients: • Build content strategies that make sense long-term • Plan and manage multi-piece projects • Maintain consistency across writers and platforms • Create content that serves both humans and search engines I’ve managed projects, workflows, and teams — not just documents. The moment I love most? When a client tells me: ❝That’s exactly what I was trying to say!❞

Currently Accepting: Beta reading, developmental editing, and proofreading jobs. Please note that if your manuscript hasn't been edited and "proofreading" turns into "editing," then I will charge extra for the job, or we'll part ways since the job wasn't as discussed. Currently on Hold: Ghostwriting. My skills begin by pulling ideas from the shadows of everyday life and creating realistic characters, ideas, and worlds. I am always up for the challenge. My interests lie in stories, novels, and the creation of an escape from the mundane. If you need help with developmental editing or beta reading to know how your novel lands, I could be your girl. I am an experienced novelist, beta reader, and (used to be) ghostwriter with the full-rounded potential to proofread anything you need. My areas of interest in the fictional world are cozy mysteries, all genres of romance, horror, science fiction, urban fantasy, slice-of-life, coming-of-age, paranormal, crime/thriller, and fairytale retellings. Communication is key to the success of your novel! Expect clarifying questions from me, respectful comments, honesty, and collaboration!

Currently accepting only fiction writing contracts for novels and novellas: Rate per word: .03₵ While my per word rate is higher than usually offered on Upwork, I am a highly skilled and productive writer, who always finishes contracts and never leaves a client hanging. As you will find in the ghost writing segment of the writing industry, skilled writers of fiction earn anywhere from $0.20/word to $0.35/word or more. My rate is highly competitive for the quality of writing you will receive. I consider carefully selected ghostwriting projects to be a collaborative pursuit between myself - the writer - and my clients, requiring close, open communication to achieve a successful result, one which you will be proud to publish as a mark of your brand. I look forward to discussing your project and how together we can bring it to the reading public. For my personal writing career, I prefer writing fiction for middle grade and young adult readers and am currently working on several projects in varying degrees of completion. I am represented by a KidLit literary agent, with whom I am working on finding a home for my first YA novel with a traditional publisher. I am also in the editing stage of my first adult nonfiction/humor manuscript. In my free time, I've worked as a ghostwriter on Regency and Historical romance projects, Science Fiction, Fantasy, Magical Realism, Paranormal, and Speculative fiction. I am also available to prepare plot outlines and character sketches for any fiction writing project. With degrees in both Creative Writing and English Literature, I have full command of the principles and practices of narrative writing. I am an expert editor and proofreader, with a Certificate in Publishing from The Publishing Lab at the University of NC Wilmington. I have taught creative writing and self-publishing, and have professionally designed and self-published books of my creative work. Since graduating with my MFA from the Vermont College of Fine Arts, I have also worked as a grant writer, narrative writer, and administrative professional for a local non-profit organization, working to build an intentional community for women and children. In this capacity, I am responsible for all written documents needed by the organization, including advertising materials, fundraising materials, informational brochures, web content, social media posts, etc. A Note on Neurodivergence and Writing Style: As an autistic writer, I approach storytelling and communication with a perspective that is deeply human, naturally patterned, and uniquely my own. My neurodivergence gives me a strong sense of structure, rhythm, and detail — qualities that shape how I write and think. Sometimes, these patterns can unintentionally resemble the kinds of patterns AI detectors are trained to flag. To stay mindful of this, I voluntarily run my work through several AI detection tools (listed below) to catch and smooth out any phrasing that might read as "too structured" or "machine-like." Even so, it's important to understand that AI detectors are far from perfect — different tools can produce wildly different results, and a high AI score doesn't mean the writing wasn't human-made. As Writefull.com explains, "AI-generated text is now almost indistinguishable from human writing," and AI detectors "have high error rates," often misidentifying human work as AI-generated and vice versa. They note that people who write in a more structured, formulaic, or concise way — including English language learners and others with natural patterning in their writing — are more likely to be wrongly flagged. Because detection methods have become so unreliable, Writefull chose to remove their own AI detection tool from the market to avoid contributing to confusion around academic and creative integrity. I want to be clear: every piece of writing I deliver is crafted by me, not by AI. I take great pride in my work and in the unique creative strengths that come from my neurodivergence. Thank you for valuing authentic voices and for trusting mine. These are some of the AI detector tools I've used: Originality.ai Brandwell.ai Quillbot.com/ai-content-detector
