I recently graduated from UNC Chapel Hill majoring in Art History and an emphasis in anthropology. I specialized in academic research and writing. During my time at UNC, I worked as a student guide at the Ackland Art Museum where I learned to look at art in new ways and was spurred to consider how art informs our perception of the past and present. Working in the museum, I also learned how to make the art displayed at the Ackland more accessible to a general audience. This concern with accessibility carried over into my internship at the Ackland, during which I wrote audio descriptions for select works of art to assist visitors with low vision. This experience enhanced my visual literacy and strengthened my connection with the art that I was analyzing. Communicating the appearance, impact, and meaning of artworks through words required me to describe how art informs our experiences - even if we cannot see it. Each course at UNC required extensive research and writing and I learned how to write quickly and without error. I have also dabbled in creative writing, blog writing, and helped to manage the Ackland’s Instagram page where we created and wrote content for various exhibits and art work.Lesson Plan Writing
