The acknowledgement that there is no single solution to the problems we face, is quite pertinent and evidences the need to work together to provide solutions to larger problems that effect civil society both at home and internationally. I believe that in order to breakdown ingrained cycles of disadvantage we must ensure every person is given an equal hand in life. As such they must be able to access resources equally and without impediment. I believe when we witness unjust or inappropriate laws and policy we have a duty to highlight their negative impacts and lobby for change. Effective advocacy aims to achieve the greatest good for the greatest number of people. This type of work is particularly important given that those who suffer from persistent cycles of disadvantage are often without a voice. I believe my passion for human rights and developing correct public policy can be utilised to make a difference to the lives of those trapped by complex and stubborn barriers.
