We make construction products, and one of our sales tools is an interactive 3D animation that walks a customer through installing our balcony waterproofing system, step by step. The version we have now is dated, the 3D looks like an early-2000s build, and we want it rebuilt for 2026. We're also adding our railing system and a few components the old one is missing. The most important thing to understand before you apply: the deliverable is an interactive, self-paced click-through. It is not a linear video. A user clicks from one step to the next at their own pace, stops on any step, and reads a short on-screen description of what's in front of them. Our sales reps run it live with customers and jump straight to whatever stage fits the conversation. An MP4 that plays start to finish does not work for us. If rendered video is the only thing you make, this is the wrong project for you. How the finished piece behaves: - A step menu, so a rep can jump to any stage. - Forward and back navigation between steps. - A short text caption on each step (we write the copy). - It holds on a step until the user chooses to move on. - Web-hosted output we can put online and open on a laptop or a phone. We're open on how you build it (web and HTML, WebGL, a real-time engine, whatever you work in). The requirement is the behavior above. The tool is your call. What you're building: - Rebuild the full install sequence in clean, current 3D. The current version runs 17 steps: drip edge, base flashing, membrane, sealants, spacer shims, drain mat, concrete wear surface, and the rest. - Add our railing system as new steps (base plates, corner brackets, the railing post, the rail). - Add a few updated components the old version doesn't include. - One step is a flood test, water sitting on the deck, so some basic water animation helps there. On accuracy: components should read correctly and the assembly order has to be right, but they don't need engineering-grade precision. If our T-bar reads as a T-bar, that's what counts. We have dimensions and reference images for every part. What we give you to work from: - The existing animation, as the concept reference. Don't copy it; make it better. - A screen recording of someone clicking through the current version, so you can see the format. - A step-by-step visual script: each step, what's on screen, and the caption text. - Install guides, including the railing guide. - Component dimensions, specs, and product-page links. - If we can pull them, 3D scan files of our products from a past vendor. How we'll work: we hand you the script and references, you propose your approach and tool, and we start with a small paid pilot of the first two or three steps. That lets us both confirm the look and the click-through behavior before the full build. Plan on a couple of revision rounds after that. The first pass won't be perfect, and we'll give you clear, specific notes. A few requirements: - US-based. We're keeping this one domestic. - Strong 3D technical animation: assembly and exploded-view work, with cutaways where a step needs to show hidden layers. - Real experience building interactive, self-paced click-through pieces. A video-only portfolio won't cover this. - Comfortable modeling from spec sheets and dimensions. Helpful: construction or industrial product experience, and basic water simulation. When you apply, please include: - A link to an interactive click-through you've built, the kind a user navigates step by step. - What tool or format you'd use here, and whether the final can be hosted online and opened on a phone. - One or two examples of assembly or exploded-view animation. - Where you're based.
