Senior Software Engineer (AI-Focused, Contract – US) Position Summary W Energy is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Contract) to help drive the integration of AI capabilities into our core platform. This role is focused on building AI-powered product features, not just experimenting with models—embedding intelligence directly into workflows across our upstream and midstream solutions. You’ll design and implement AI-driven functionality that improves automation and user experience. We're building an internal operations platform to automate utility account management for a large real estate portfolio. Today, much of this work is manual. Information about utility accounts exists across multiple systems, and employees spend significant time identifying missing bills, reconciling account data, researching exceptions, and coordinating follow-up work. We're building a system that automates these processes by synchronizing data between our operational system and accounting system, applying business rules to identify exceptions, and presenting actionable work queues and dashboards for our operations team. Examples include: Utility accounts that exist in one system but not another Missing or delayed utility bills Accounts requiring setup or closure based on occupancy changes Autopay and e-bill tracking Operational exceptions that require human review Dashboards, work queues, assignments, notes, and status tracking Our internal product manager owns the business requirements and workflows. Your role is to work closely with them to design and implement the technical solution, not to perform business process discovery. What You'll Do Design and use AI to build the application's backend and frontend. Design a clean, maintainable application architecture. Use AI to build dashboards and workflows that allow operations teams to efficiently manage exceptions. Translate product requirements into production-ready software. Leverage AI development tools (Codex, Claude Code, Cursor, or similar) as a core part of your workflow to accelerate development. Review, validate, and refine AI-generated code to ensure quality and maintainability. What We're Looking For We're looking for an experienced software engineer with strong software engineering fundamentals who embraces AI-assisted development. You should understand how modern software applications are architected, designed, built, and deployed, and be comfortable making sound technical decisions while moving quickly. Experience in many of the following areas is preferred: Full-stack application development Application architecture and system design APIs and system integrations SQL databases and data modeling Authentication and security Cloud-hosted applications Testing and debugging Source control and collaborative development We care much more about engineering judgment, speed of execution, and the ability to effectively leverage AI than expertise in any particular language or framework. Nice to Have Experience building internal business applications or operations platforms Experience working with accounting, ERP, or workflow systems Experience building dashboards and operational tooling To Apply Please include: A brief summary of your experience building business applications. The AI development tools you use regularly (Codex, Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, etc.) and how they fit into your workflow. Examples of projects where AI significantly accelerated your development process. Your availability over the next 2–3 months and your expected hourly rate.

I’m running a real estate investment platform called ToInvested.com. The project is about 90% finished, and most of the code was built with Claude together with another engineer. Now I need a senior engineer to step in, review the full product carefully, test every major workflow, and help verify that everything is working correctly before it goes live. This is not just a “write more code” role. I need someone who can look at the platform like a real product, find hidden bugs, catch weak logic, test edge cases, review the AI-generated code, and tell me honestly what is ready and what still needs fixing. Because this is a real estate investment platform, accuracy and trust matter a lot. Users may rely on property data, investment logic, calculations, and AI-driven insights, so even small issues can create a serious problem later. The ideal person has strong full-stack experience, understands AI-assisted development, and has a good testing mindset. Real estate tech experience would be a big plus, especially with property platforms, investment tools, marketplaces, mortgage systems, or financial workflows. My main goal is simple: I want someone to break the project before real users do. If you’re the kind of engineer who can take a nearly finished product, test it deeply, clean up weak areas, and help make it production-ready, I’d be happy to talk.

We're a small advisory that works privately with individuals and families around psychological wellbeing. It's pretty discreet, high-touch stuff, and the honest truth is that everything important about a client is currently scattered across notes, intake forms, my inbox, and my own head. It worked fine when it was just a handful of people. It's starting not to. So I want to build one thing and see how it goes. When a new client comes in, I want their intake to basically become a clean writeup for us. A short read on their situation, what they actually seem to need, the kinds of practitioners we'd probably bring in, anything sensitive we should be careful about, and a couple of smart questions to open the first conversation with. Purely internal. Nothing client facing, and I don't want AI anywhere near the actual advising. I'd want it built on Claude, in our own accounts so it's ours, and I'd need a plain-English writeup on how to run it once you're gone. And I want to see it actually work on a couple of our real examples before we call it finished. I've been burned by slick demos that fall apart the second you use real data. Ideally you've built this kind of thing for real, in production, and can tell me where it's a bad idea as much as where it helps. Bonus if you've done work in healthcare or anywhere privacy actually matters. Budget is fixed and I'd like to move fairly quickly, probably a few days. Tell me what you've built before and how you'd go about this one. Thanks! Fixed-price: $1000
