I am looking for an experienced mechanical/product design engineer to review and refine an existing CAD design for a compact consumer goods case with a pin hinge and magnetic closure. The design and internal layout are already complete. This is not a redesign. The current appearance, dimensions, and functionality should be preserved, with only minor changes made where needed for injection molding, assembly, durability, or tolerances. Scope includes: • Full injection-molding DFM review • Correcting draft, wall thickness, radii, clearances, alignment and tolerances • Cleaning up CAD geometry and dimensions • Confirming the intended contents still fit after all changes • Reviewing hinge-pin installation and methods for closing the hinge access points • Reviewing magnet cavity design, overmolding, adhesive, and retention options • Identifying undercuts, die-lock risks, required side actions, sink marks, warpage, ejection issues, and assembly concerns. • Delivering updated supplier-ready CAD and concise manufacturing notes (no 2D drawings necessary) Overall, this should be a relatively focused project. It will be divided into two milestones: 1. DFM review and manufacturability analysis with recommendations 2. Implementation of approved changes, followed by delivery of supplier-ready CAD files and manufacturing notes Deep injection-molding expertise is required; experience with molded cases, hinges, magnetic closures, and consumer products is preferred. Please include relevant examples of similar projects you have completed. A freelancer will be selected within the next five business days.

This is not just a CAD modeling project. I am looking for someone who can contribute ideas, improve the design, and help engineer the product from concept through a working prototype. I'm looking for an experienced mechanical/product designer to help develop a portable blueprint scanning rig for use during commercial site surveys. The device will hold an iPhone above large-format construction drawings (24"×36" and larger) to capture high-quality images for documentation. This is an early-stage prototype that may eventually become a commercial product. Design Goals The rig should: Fold into a compact carrying case. Set up in under one minute. Hold an iPhone securely over blueprints. Maintain the camera perfectly square to the drawing. Be lightweight but rigid. Use mostly off-the-shelf components. Be suitable for repeated field use. Materials Under Consideration I'm open to multiple design approaches including: 1/2" EMT conduit w/3D printed connections 2020 T-slot aluminum extrusion Combination of 3D printed and purchased components Desired Features Folding design (preferred over complete disassembly) Adjustable camera height Adjustable phone position MagSafe iPhone mount Integrated LED lighting Thumb-screw or Knob adjustments Lightweight Stable on folding tables Open side allowing blueprints to be flipped like a book Future accessory mounting options I am specifically looking for someone who can recommend the best overall solution rather than simply drawing what I specify. Deliverables Multiple concept sketches CAD assembly Fully parametric model STEP files STL files Engineering drawings Bill of Materials Hardware list with McMaster-Carr or Amazon part numbers Assembly instructions Experience Requested Please provide examples of projects involving: Folding mechanisms Camera equipment Aluminum extrusion EMT conduit 3D printing Consumer products Portable tools Mechanical assemblies Ideal Candidate I'm looking for someone who enjoys solving mechanical problems and is interested in helping create a unique product—not just producing CAD drawings. There will likely be multiple design iterations, and I'm looking for someone interested in a longer-term collaboration. The files attached are of what AI generated. This is to give youa rough idea. The support legs need to be on the long side 36" of the print so that when the sheets are stapled together they can be turned without obstruction.

I am looking to create a functioning, scale model "Mi-Jack" translift / gantry crane. (reference images provided) Should be a combination of metal and 3d printed plastic parts, along with elements found in typical remote control vehicles. Preferred scale is 1/14, but could be a bit larger if necessary. It doesn't have to have ALL the functionality of a translift, but will need to be able to lift a (light weight) scale model container off the bed of a scale mode semi trailer (see Tamiya 40' container truck). Controls do not have to be rc - I'm ok with local (on board) controls. It should be stationary, not wheeled. Basically, picture a 3d printer with no bed; servos to move the head side to side; and box chain / pulley / winch system to lift or lower the container once attached. Obviously, I can't find anything like this on the market, so any potential distribution would be through equal partnership, but that is not the intention of this project. I anticipate this would be an exciting challenge for someone with applicable skillset. An interest in RC vehicles is probably a bonus. To the extent possible, I'm looking for an unassembled finished product. I may supply some of the parts or elements. And I would like to 3d print as many parts as practical myself.
