Job title: Researcher — Funding Transparency in Climate & Conservation Philanthropy Category: Market Research / Nonprofit & Philanthropy Research Type: Fixed-price · Budget: $2,000 · Duration: 6 weeks · Experience level: Intermediate Overview We’re looking for a curious, detail-oriented researcher to produce a structured, professional research report (~10 pages) identifying foundations, NGOs, and nonprofits that practice meaningful funding transparency in climate and conservation. Key Research Question What does meaningful funding transparency look like in climate and conservation philanthropy, and which foundations, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), and nonprofits practice it? Context Philanthropic funding for climate and environmental issues is growing, but transparency is uneven across the sector. Many foundations do not consistently publish timely, detailed information about their grantmaking, strategic priorities, or impact evaluations, making it difficult for researchers, practitioners, and potential grantees to understand where climate dollars are going and how funders make decisions. While some funders share robust data, overall reporting remains fragmented, with major gaps in grant-level disclosure, evaluation practices, and visibility into how funds are allocated across environmental priorities and communities. Objective Identify foundations that publicly share details about their environmental funding in three areas: (1) infrastructure innovation to reduce carbon emissions, (2) sustainability projects targeting high-impact unsustainable practices, and (3) conservation of critical ecosystems (e.g., endangered species, threatened landscapes, natural resources). Document what information each foundation provides — such as grant amounts, recipients, funding criteria, and impact reports — and assess how accessible this information is. What You’ll Do Conduct independent research on the assigned topic. Gather, review, and summarize academic papers, industry reports, and expert commentary. Synthesize findings into a clear, well-organized report following our standard Research Report Template. The report should reflect independent thinking, strong synthesis, and clear communication — not just a data dump. Who You Are Strong writing and analytical skills. Comfortable reading academic papers, summarizing complex ideas, and identifying key themes. Curious, self-directed, and able to manage your own workflow and deadlines. Excellent written English and ability to cite sources clearly. (Bonus) Familiarity with AI tools like ChatGPT, Elicit, or Perplexity for research support. Requirements Complete one ~10-page report within 6 weeks. Follow our provided report structure and formatting. Provide full references for all sources used. Disclose and fact-check any AI-assisted work per template guidelines. Meet weekly for 30–60 minutes to provide project updates to Advisors. Compensation & Timeline Pay: $2,000 per completed report Timeline: 6 weeks from initiation of project engagement

Job title: Researcher — AI Safety Funding Opportunities in Mental Health, Education & Personal Health Category: Market Research / Policy Research Type: Fixed-price · Budget: $2,000 · Duration: 6 weeks · Experience level: Intermediate Overview We’re looking for a curious, detail-oriented researcher to produce a structured, professional research report (~10 pages) mapping where AI safety risks intersect with traditional philanthropic focus areas — and where the highest-priority funding opportunities sit at those intersections. Key Research Question Where do AI safety risks intersect with traditional philanthropic focus areas, and what are the highest-priority funding opportunities at these intersections? Context Foundations focus on specific mission areas like mental health, education, and healthcare, but they often don’t know how AI safety risks connect to their existing work. AI is developing rapidly, making it hard for non-technical funders to understand its impact on the communities they serve. Misaligned AI is already making some of these problems worse. Funders need guidance on which AI safety priorities are relevant to their focus areas, rather than broad overviews of the entire field. At the same time, AI safety organizations struggle to explain technical risks in ways that make sense to mission-driven funders. This disconnect leads to missed opportunities where foundation priorities and AI safety needs actually overlap. Objective For mental health, education, and personal health, conduct research to answer four key questions: What are the AI safety risks in these areas? What solutions exist? Where are the funding gaps? How can philanthropy help? The goal is to help foundations see how AI safety connects to the causes they already support, so funders can quickly identify concrete funding opportunities in each area. What You’ll Do Conduct independent research on the assigned topic. Gather, review, and summarize academic papers, industry reports, and expert commentary. Synthesize findings into a clear, well-organized report following our standard Research Report Template.
