When Proofreading becomes a Treasure Hunt, money is made! This proofreading job is a real treasure hunt. The base pay is 5$ to find typos in a chapter between 3,500 and 5,500 words. For each error found in the text, 10¢ is added as a bonus, so a proofreader can make as much money as there are legitimate errors found and noted in red ink in the hard copy (no digital copy will be provided). Proofreaders who show exceptional skill at discerning the most invisible of typos will be privileged to take on additional chapters on upcoming projects in the future. Proofreaders will be provided with a checklist to assist in methodically hunting for potential errors. Note also that finding 80% of typos is a requirement for job fulfillment, not an option. Finding 95% of errors will add an extra 5$ bonus on top of the 10¢ per error found Treasure Hunt Maximal Pay Formula is: 5$+5$+10¢X=______ $ Requirements are access to an unabridged dictionary, an ability to cull at least 90% of all typos, and lastly, an interest in fantastical literature. If you can handle these basics for being an effective proofreader, send us a note.

We have a completed 80 page report on an environmental topic that needs a thorough copyedit and a clean, professional layout. The writing is done. We need someone who can tighten the language, catch errors, and turn it into a polished, well designed document. What we need - Fix grammar, punctuation, spelling, and consistency issues - Check that terminology is used correctly and consistently throughout (units, scientific terms, acronyms) - Flag any claims that seem unsupported or unclear so we can review them - Light structural suggestions are welcome but this is not a full rewrite - Format the report into a clean, readable design (cover page, table of contents, section headers, page numbers, consistent styling) - Place charts, graphs, and images cleanly with captionsWe do not have any images ready to go, so you will need to source everything: photos, icons, or graphics that fit the tone and topic of the report. No AI pictures or graphics. Use your judgment on where visuals would help. Only use images with proper licensing, free stock sites are fine. -Deliver a final print ready PDF and an editable source file. We are looking for someone who can commit to turning this around within a 2-week window.

I'm an author with an 8-book Christian middle-grade series, The Brave Girls of the Bible Club (ages 8–12), and I'm looking for an editor for the whole series. The series at a glance: Five modern girls discover a magical trunk in their church basement that transports them into the stories of courageous women of the Bible. Each book teaches one real-world skill (courage, leadership, emotional honesty, resilience, identity, gifts, empathy) and ends with a parent–daughter discussion guide. The eight books feature Esther, Deborah, Hannah, Ruth, Mary Magdalene, Priscilla, Miriam, and an ensemble finale. Scope: 8 books, ~4,000–6,000 words each — roughly 38,000 words total Already fully drafted, formatted, and consistent in style (Word/.docx files) Each book: 7–8 chapters plus back matter (discussion guide, journal pages) These manuscripts are already written and in a fixed brand voice. I'm looking for editing and continuity checking, not rewriting. Specifically: Line/copy edit — grammar, clarity, flow, age-appropriate language for 8–12. Series continuity — consistency across all 8 books (character details, the trunk's "rules," recurring phrasing, the deepening faith arc). Scripture accuracy — confirming the biblical retellings and references are handled faithfully. I don't want the text rewritten or "elevated" into a different style, just polished and made consistent. Before I commit to all eight, would you be open to a paid sample edit of one chapter (~1,500 words)? That lets me see your editing style and confirm we're a good fit. If it goes well, I'd then want a bulk quote for the full series (~38,000 words) and your estimated turnaround. A few quick questions: Are you comfortable with middle-grade fiction (not just devotionals/picture books)? Do you work in Word with tracked changes so I can review every edit? What's your rate for the one-chapter sample, and roughly for the full series? The ideal candidate will have experience in Christian content and middle-grade books, ensuring the series is engaging and suitable for the target audience. This is a long-term project requiring a commitment to editing all 8 books.
