You didn't write a whole book to let a typo speak first.
Ghostwritten. Edited. Designed. By one person who actually finishes books.
Here's the thing most authors learn too late: readers decide in about three seconds whether to buy your book, and your cover gets one of them. The words inside matter just as much, but only if the cover earns the click and the first page survives the scrutiny. I make sure both do.
I'm a fiction ghostwriter, editor, and cover designer for indie and KDP authors, romance above all, across contemporary, historical, paranormal, and Christian lines. I take a book from rough draft or raw idea to publication-ready, and I handle every stage myself, so nothing falls through the cracks between hands.
Ghostwriting. Full-length fiction in your voice, with the structure, dialogue, and pacing that build a readership. I've written and published my own novels, so I know story from the inside out.
Editing & proofreading. Developmental editing to shape it, line and copy editing to sharpen it, proofreading to make it flawless. I catch what you've stopped being able to see.
Cover design. Genre-true covers that signal quality and earn the click, built in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign and delivered print-ready.
Most authors come to me for one of these and stay for the rest, because a book is stronger in the hands of someone who understands all its parts. I take on a limited number of projects so each one gets the attention it deserves.
If you want your book to speak before your typos do, let's talk.

No AI; all work is 100% human!
I have a love for the written word and a razor-sharp eye for errors! I’m the indie author and small publisher’s best friend, because my editing is a valuable combination of copy, line, and developmental. I look at the manuscript's ENTIRE scope, the viability of the storyline as well as the writing. I also offer storyline/plot evaluations. Romance publishers, in particular, need this service to prevent spending hundreds of dollars on stories that contain implausible and inaccurate situations that render them un-publishable.
Romance is my specialty; however, I also edit nonfiction, business, and medical documents, as well as other fiction genres. I treat each client’s document as if my name were going to be publicly listed as the author. Contact me, and let's discuss what I can do for you!
Here’s a brief summary of the services I offer:
EDITING. In addition to making developmental suggestions regarding structure, pacing, plot, and characterization (the latter two for fiction), I check the entire document for typos, overused/misused/missing words, incorrect facts, inconsistencies, redundancies, contradictions, implausibilities, confusing narrative, pronoun misuse, adverb overuse, point-of-view (in fiction) errors, tense, transitions, clarity, syntax, and of course, grammar, punctuation, spelling, and sentence structure.
PROOFREADING. Commonly believed to be the same as editing…it’s not. Proofreading should be done after editing is complete and before publishing or submission. This includes correcting missing or incorrect punctuation, incorrect word usage, misused homonyms, missing words, doubled words, irregular word or line spacing, inconsistencies in statements and formatting, typos, misspellings, and grammatical errors.
PLOT/STORYLINE EVALUATIONS. Are you a small publisher who has spent hundreds, or even thousands, on stories that turn out to be worthless? Let me evaluate your ghostwriter’s storyline before you pay to have it written, potentially saving you hundreds of dollars. I’ll tell you what’s wrong with it and make suggestions for resolution (or inform you that it’s hopeless). I’ll also review the first 500 words of the manuscript.
GHOSTWRITING. Anything I write for you is guaranteed to need little editing. However, I only consider ghostwriting if a) the client provides a story outline, b) there is a reasonable weekly output of 6-8k words, and c) I am paid at least 3 cents per word.
TRANSCRIPTION/TYPING. Dictated or handwritten: random thoughts/notes, correspondence, medical reports, fiction or nonfiction manuscripts, and one-on-one interviews or conversations (I do not transcribe reports with more than two speakers).
My experience:
• Professional writer for over 20 years, nonfiction (newspaper columnist) and fiction (40+ novels of romance and women's fiction published under my pen name(s), plus ghostwritten titles).
• Professional proofreader who worked for pharmaceutical giant Abbott Labs in that capacity.
• Experienced editor with an 11-year history on Upwork. Top Rated.
• Retired multispecialty medical transcriptionist; qualified to edit medical documents.
• Romance specialist. With so many published romance novels to my name, I possess a thorough understanding of the genre and know what works and what doesn't. I am a book doctor who can clean up plots that contain outlandish elements and revise them into a plot that is both engrossing and *believable.*

I write long-form for people who need a real writer. Books, YouTube scripts, memoir, academic editing, personal statements. I've worked with everyone from grant writers to A-list celebrities.
YouTube scripts, especially true crime and investigative journalism. When I write a true crime or investigative script, the research holds up because I've done the real, expert level version of it. I teach storyteling and can write 10 to 30 minute scripts that hold attention end to end.
AI humanization, any length. I rewrite AI-generated content so it reads human and clears detection tools. Full books, long-form articles, web copy, marketing material. My graduate work focused on AI policy and information science, so I understand how detection tools work and how to write content that clears them while actually being good. If you've drafted a manuscript with AI and need it punched up and humanized, this is what I do.
Books and memoir ghostwriting. Past work includes a published memoir on addiction recovery, pain management, and developing emotional intelligence for justice impacted people and others navigating life with PTSD. I hold voice across long projects without it slipping. Trauma, recovery, faith, family. None of it scares me.
Academic editing. I'm a Visiting Assistant Professor of Digital Instruction and Research. Before that, a librarian and faculty research assistant. I hae an expert level command over dissertations, theses, journal submissions, grant applications.
Personal statements and admissions essays. Past clients have landed top-tier college admissions. Tailored from scratch every time.
Creative work. Beat sheets and screen work. Reworked to producer specs. I have rewritten a crime-thriller trilogy that spanned multiple plot lines and character voices.

If meticulous, reliable, and hardworking are the qualities you’re looking for in an editor, then you have come across the correct profile. Hi, my name is Fahmida, and I am a qualified fiction editor and proofreader with 4+ years of experience. I was a teacher with 15 years of experience before I completed my certification from SA Writer’s College, which is a certified institute, with branches both in the UK and New Zealand.
I am always revising and learning my craft, so what does that mean? It means, I read the latest books on writing and editing, attend writing and editing workshops, and make sure I am always reading fiction books. How does this help my craft? Well, it means I understand 3 or 4 act-structure, and can identify pacing and flow issues, as well as character growth and tension. I am particularly good at editing romance and would consider it my niche genre to work in.
As a fiction editor, I offer the following services:
- Developmental editing
- Copy Editing
- Proofreading
- Line Editing
- Plot review
I work with all genres excluding sci-fi and horror. While we speak and write British English in South Africa, many of my clients are from the USA, so I am well conversant in American English spelling and grammar differences, and I can edit according to the Chicago Manual of Style, as well as the Oxford Style Guide.

Beyond fiction, I also work with nonfiction authors, content creators, and small business owners. I’ve edited website copy, blog posts, manuals, lead magnets, academic writing, and more.
